I have noticed in my stats that my Pinterest views have gone up. In the past it seemed that I might not have but 2-3 for the entire month and I have 10 for the 1st 2 days of December...not a lot but still an upward trend, I guess as more people find pinterest.. My November views were up too. This is a good sign.

Hi Pat, just going in to repin and delete some of my pins and something came to mind.

If a person has repinned the older pin and I delete that the old pin to keep my items current, what happens to the repins on the older pin?

Am I making any sense?

Re: December Main Discussion

Karen - about deleting old pins ...does that delete the pins others have done of your item?...I had this figured out one time and now I've forgotten. I think it does break the link maybe...gosh, why can't I remember the answer to this question??

One way to test that would be to repin one of your own items to a diff board then go back and delete the original pin then make sure everything has been refreshed and go check to see if the 2nd pin will still work.

Re: December Main Discussion

Pinterest keeps the pin on their servers for this reason. Your pin will be deleted but all repins remain. The only thing that might change is who gets credit for the pin "repinned from"

Re: December Main Discussion

Dana, thanks for your input, I just was drawing a blank on this.

Here is something I've had mixed feelings on: Whether it's better to delete old pins on sold items or leave them in hopes they'll look around in your shop and find something else.

This is a particular conundrum for me because selling a lot of vintage, they aren't likely to find a similar item. Now if it is a supply, like one of my lace trims, then I probably relisted it.

Re: December Main Discussion

Here's what I do to remove the price from an existing pin:
1. click "repin"
2. edit the comments to your choosing, remove price
3. click "pin it"
4. a window appears that says "shared with your followers. See it now" click on "see it now"
5. click "edit"
6. you'll see another window with your pin and containing your edits in the comments and below a button that says "save pin" click and done!

Re: December Main Discussion

I have a group board on Pinterest called "Reason for the Season" where I pin Christian related Christmas items. If you would like to be added to this board so that you can pin here just let me know and I'll add you. I am restricting it to things like vintage nativity scenes, glitter churches, vintage Christmas cards with Nativity scenes on them etc. (I do have other non-religious Christmas boards but this one is a group board) Here's a link to my Pinterest and the board is near the bottom if you'd like to take a look.

Re: December Main Discussion

I have just done the dumbest thing that I've ever done on etsy...

1- Notified that set of bubble lights I sold hasn't arrived ($30 including ship & insurance)
2- Cannot locate the insurance ticket and am thinking hubs insured the wrong box
3- looked at the listing and realized I sent Both sets of vintage bubble lights when the listing was for one set.....
4- potential total loss of $54 to me....
This will be the crowning glory to an already less than stellar December!

Re: December Main Discussion

Hi! New here! This may be a silly question, but when pinning, we are to pin to 1 of our personal boards or the team board?

Re: December Main Discussion

Jewelsbytrish asked a good question and I'd love to know too. I have been pinning to my personal boards.

Our leader asked about deleting pins. I sometimes delete pins when I've sold an item, but then I get to thinking that maybe someone will click on a sold item, get to my shop, and start browsing. So, basically, the jury is still out . . .

Re: December Main Discussion

Jewels - so sorry not to have seen your note - I think I'm discussing on too many diff threads :-)
I do all pinning to one of my personal boards that fits the item, I don't have one board for all etsy or a team board. I think that's best for getting views.

re deleting pins, I usually don't delete them even when sold, I figure they may come to my shop and look around.

Re: December Main Discussion

Hello- Sorry to have been absent for so long, it was a busy month due to sales :) and family emergency :(. But, blessed to be here and doing what I love!

I do have some goals:
1. Get my shop listings back up! Hoping to have 125 items in my shop by March.
2. Increase sales I averaged 2 sales a month last year and hope to double that in 2013.
3. Increase profit margin which means increasing prices (nervous about this but after doing the math with my accountant also my husband I realized that I will never be able to quit my day job at this rate)

What are your goals?

Re: December Main Discussion

Erin - great to see you. As to my goals....
1- survive my daughters wedding in April!
2- get more listings up...I really procrastinate on this
3- increase profit margin same as yours. I tend to list cheap stuff cause I hate dealing with the packaging of the larger, breakable stuff...I'm always deferring to the paper ephemera. I'm with you...I make about 2 cents an hour on etsy because of my own laziness!
