Tagging

Hi All,

I want to hear everyone's theory, thoughts, opinions and ramblings on effective tagging.

For example, what do you think is the most important thing to tag about a new product?
What do you NEVER EVER put as a tag?
What tags have you found to be the most effective? (you can see under your shop stats what search words are bringing traffic to your site)
What tags have been useless or pointless?

For myself, I've found my materials seem to be what is drawing people to my store.

Re: Tagging

For my stuff "weird", "unusual" and "grinning" seems to work. Anything about the type of art such as "upcycled" or "folk art" has been useless.

Oh yeah, "flowers" seems to be a draw too.

Re: Tagging

BIRDS! We all know that birds are still super popular. I use this to my advantage. Even if my piece only has a little feather charm on it somewhere, I will tag it with "bird" "fly" "wings" "feather" etc. I have no way of knowing but my guess would be that those types of tags get me more views than not.

Re: Tagging

Hmm... that's interesting because a couple days ago, "upcycled" apparently got me some views off of google!

Wierd isn't it what seems to work for each of us?

Can't wait to hear what works for others!
