I am sure others have run into these scams before but I just wanted to give everyone a heads up just in case.
I was contacted this morning by a customer who wanted to purchase one of my items. it was a scam I have run into before.
They never refer to the item by name only "the item"
They want to pay by check and pick up the item
The language of the email is suspicious and they want you to send them personal information (address, phone, full name)
They have only joined Etsy today
They want to pay you more than the listing price and want to have you pull the item off your site.
There are many legitimate customers here on Etsy but please be aware there are also people looking to scam you.
I have reported this activity to Etsy so hopefully they will put an end to it. If you receive a contact that is suspicious please send it along to Etsy.
