Can I have a rant?

hi people I like most of you am new here and am struggling so far with ONE single sale and that was to a friend :(

However I work hard at trying to invent new items to make with a view to selling them in my shop.

Before i made my mushrooms I put that word into the Etsy search and there was NOTHING at all in all 600 plus pages that looked remotely like the idea in my head. Lots of mushrooms frome ceramic wool felt etc but nothing made of fabrics scraps.

I went ahead and made them and listed them and now all of a sudden there are very similar mushrooms popping up. I feel that maybe if you put a good idea on here it gets nicked.The main market seems to be from the States and they have an advantage due to lower postage costs iwthin the country rather than things ordered from abroad.

Maybe I have it wrong and am being frustrated and paranoid but I searched and searched before making my items because I wanted to try and make something 'different'

Does anyone else have a similar experience? I hope i'm wrong but I guess I'll never know :(

It happens all the time. Concentrate on making yours stand out and being better than the rest.

Glad you like the black bag too it is a lovely little thing and surprisingly roomy too.

I had thought I may delete this thread as I have had a private message off a friend saying I may get a lot of negative feedback here and start a mini war of words WHICH IS NOT what I intended!

I am not here to cause offense I just wanted to see if I was alone with my suspicions/fears.

If anyone knows how to remove a thread can you please let me know how.

I think Etsy does that, but only if someone responds negatively, or calls out.
You definately did not do that.

I think your patchwork brooches are gorgeous! We are all newbies here and quite often we will need to get "things off our chest". I am all for that, but if you are worried about negative feedback, send a message to the Team Captain as I believe they have the ability to at least close a thread so that no more comments can be left. They may even be able to delete it. I would hope noone would be cruel though because we are all in the same boat and we all need to vent from time to time. You have my support :-)

Meanwhile back at the ranch I must go and try to figure out my new 2ndhand overlocking machine.................It only cost me 20 euros but the Instructions are in Dutch!

Wish me luck I have a feeling I'm gonna need it.

You're right TC I think being new is quite a hurdle for all of us and the highs are huge but so are lows.

I'lk leave the thread and if it's starts to get 'hot' I may call in a captain because I think it's be for the best if we kept it friendly on here theres way too many bad vibes in the rest of the world right now we don't need it here as well. :)

hmmm I have an idea that maybe I won't put up because it would be easy to copy and I think they may do it better than I !! But maybe I will, I posted quite a few new abstract cards today, I'm having so much fun with them, unfortunately they look much better than they photograph I also posted new IC sunflowers that I've posted for $4.00 or what ever one wants to contribute, .01--.whatever, free shipping if $4 & up.
What do you think?

Hey Bellly Button, First I love your shop. Your mushroom are unique, certainly not like all the rest. I almost wish someone would copy my stuff, not that they really could but I would at least feel like someone noticed. I havent sold anything either except to 2 friends. Started in December but Im still hanging in there. I have gotten some possitive feedback and comments like you are getting and it helps me hang on. Good luck to you

I think it's very hard for us newbies, and particularly for those of us that are still waiting for a sale. But I think that other people may try to copy but as the creator of the design you have put something very special into it which no one can copy how ever hard they try, so just keep making!
I just love your mushroom and have favorited it!

Those masks are really lovely and yes almost impossible to copy Dee DM I wouldn't even try my skills don't lie in that direction :P

Funfancifulflowers don't let the worry stop you posting a good design I have been talking with some friends and they say the world is a big, big place and no one person can supply enough articles to supply the market so let a copycat try their best but you will still get your share ( hopefully we all will)

I have had a new idea today myself and I will post and be damned, when i get around to making it anyway :0)
