Anyone in a slump?!?

I haven't had a sale in a while....:( not sure what could be causing a slump in business. my shop is getting views and people are favoriting my items. just not getting sales. I've offered 15% to FB followers and just today started giving people a chance to take 15% off if they favorite a item or my shop... what is a girl to do? Please give me your honest advise and feedback.

Hi!
You have really really adorable unique things!
I don't have kids, so I'm not sure about this, but maybe when the weather turns warmer, people buy fewer hats?? Again, I have no idea--just a thought.
I think your shop is great!

Re: Anyone in a slump?!?

I've been hearing this a lot and experiencing it myself. Hey, you've had 14 sales already and that's a whole lot better than my one sale! I love your hats and the baby items are darling! It's just a slow time right now. Hope things pick up very soon!!! Hang in there. . .

Deeziner: yeah it is slow..I also have so many people are also etsy sellers who are my fb fans and favorite my..I feel they're so busy trying to keep they're shops going that buying isn't in the cards right now..I thought a referal program.. like for each customer that buys and mentions your particular shop in comment boys your shop earns a dollar or a percentage off.. just don't know how to work logistics of it yet, but seems like a great way to network and build sales..wadda ya think?

Re: Anyone in a slump?!?

My sales have slowed down too. Lots of people complaining about it. Is it just normal for this time of year?
Apaperaffaire-I will be ordering from you soon, love your stuff.

Re: Anyone in a slump?!?

I'm definitely in a slump, but I have seen traffic pick up by participating in some BNRs. Check out this one!

Re: Anyone in a slump?!?

yarnandtherose - I will be honest with you, I would not be looking for any kind of knitted anything right now. It's 88 degrees in TX today! I encourage you to try something new, like the headbands, for the 'off-season'. In my shop I am trying to stock pile it full of wedding items right now since brides are on the hunt now. Towards the end of September I will be filling my shop with all sorts of holiday wreaths again.

I also think the time change might be a factor. People are outside later in the evenings and out and about on the weekends. Up north they aren't snowed in anymore (or at least I don't think as many are) and I don't think people spend as much time on the computer . Just my thoughts :)

I only had a handful of sales in the month of March and only 2 in April so far. So I'm in a slump of sorts also. Best of luck to everyone!

Re: Anyone in a slump?!?

Since I am entirely new at this, I sure couldnt tell anyone what to do.
I opened my shop on March 8 and have had a few favorites on items, and favorites on my shop but havent sold a thing so far.

I would settle for 1 sale--it would make me feel a whole lot better. Hope things get better soon.

Otherwise, have a great day, stay positive and hope things will pick up soon.

Re: Anyone in a slump?!?

I think the others are right....maybe some thing that are more into Spring like the headband idea. I was at an Easter egg hunt today with the kids and saw alot of little girls wearing those Kuffi hats in Spring colors too!

A BNR is a Buy and Replace.....you buy something from a shop that is featured and one of your items replaces that item in the BNR. THe people who are in it promote it on Facebook, Twitter, send covo's and promote in their teams.....I think it has helped me.

Re: Anyone in a slump?!?

it's finally spring up here and everyone is outside so unless (and this isn't sexist just realistic) there are hockey/baseball soon to be football widows out there then there won't be as much traffic. The head bands sound like a great idea. Leg warmers are popular here again and I remember when we wore them in the spring and fall so you may hit that market right now and get ready for fall. I've only had my store open since Feb. and haven't sold a thing yet but I'm okay with that. I'm branching out and have them in stores in my village and am branching out to towns around here. I've been using Facebook as much as I can and that does help too. Good luck with yours. I'm too stubborn to give up on my shop and I know that when I finally find someone who is interested in writing cards then I will start selling.

Re: Anyone in a slump?!?

Theyarnandtherose:

I am new to ETSY and about to start working on my first custom sale tonight! :) You have such a cute product. Although they are knitted items and its approaching summer I would continue to try and market them to people like photographers who need props year round! I especially adore the little owl hats :) Maybe you could try spicing up your shop design? Feature a new product on your avatar with the word 'sale' in attempt to increase traffic flow. If you are interested, I can create a custom banner with two bonus avatars for you for the discounted price of $10. This could help unify the look of your shop and help you with branding. I hope this helps & that things pick up for you! :)

Re: Anyone in a slump?!?

In a slump and in a funk. Two weeks in a row I've tried to attend the
Etsy Newbie chat in Live Forums and the moderator didn't show up.
What a waste of time!! Trying to reorganize my studio while working two other jobs. No new listings. No sales. I'm about ready to snap.

Re: Anyone in a slump?!?

I haven't had a sale in a few weeks now. I have some really cute spring and easter items listed but no bites. I'm very sad.

Re: Anyone in a slump?!?

I haven't had any sales either, although the exposure through etsy has been good for me in other venues. I seem to have more sales where people can actually see and touch my art. Don't give up!

Re: Anyone in a slump?!?

Hi! Things were going very steadily for me than bam! Slump! A couple of seasoned Etsy members told me that this time of year tends to slow down, especially with tax season. Their advice was just keep listing, so I'm trying to breath deeply and list more! If anyone has any other advice I'd love to hear it. :)
