About facebook pages...

How do I unattach my Business page from my personal profile?

When I made them I didn't realize the business page was linked to my personal profile.

Do I have to make a new account or is this how everyones business pages work?

It is linked... I understand that you need 25 likes on your business page to get a separate page. I will like your page.. paste your link

Re: About facebook pages...

Ok I will go like you. Search glitter-gluedtogether. I'm the first one. The pic is the same as this one here.

So. After 25 likes I can make my page separate from my personal profile?

Re: About facebook pages...

Yep... which I'm having trouble doing. Getting all the likes, I mean. I don't wanna bug my family/friends to "like" my etsy on facebook.. lol.

So if anyone feels like helping an etsian out, my page is http://www.facebook.com/pages/Book-Geekery/206011196078472

I only have 8 likes so far, and I "liked" a bunch of other peoples, but hardly any were kind enough to return the favor. :/

Re: About facebook pages...

I don't really understand what you're saying. Your page is completely separate from your personal profile. Unless you tell people your page belongs to you, nobody knows or can make the connection between your business page and your personal page.

They have separate pages. You just need 25 likes to get a URL you like. This is so people can't sit on pages by taking the URL of another company or a celebrity and then try to make them pay for it.

Re: About facebook pages...

I liked you, bookgeekery! And I totally know what you mean about feeling awkward asking friends and family to like my page. My mom ended up sending a mass email for me and I felt really weird...

Re: About facebook pages...

It's always kind of connected to your personal page, in that you can always switch back and forth by clicking "use page as..." under "Account" in the upper right hand corner.

Also, the only way your "Likes" count on someone's page is if you're using your account as your profile/your self, not as your page.

What I do is stay logged on as my profile/myself, and go and "Like" anybody on these threads that asks. Then I post on their wall that I'm saying "hello" or whatever, then type @PetDesign. Any page name you type after "@" shows up as clickable.

See my example on "bookgeekery" I just did it there :)

Hope this helps everyone♥

Then, when you have at least 25 "Likes" you go to http://www.facebook.com/username/ ..........and you can select a new username that doesn't have all those numbers after it.

Re: About facebook pages...

Thats my problem. Is it because I made it as another page under my personal profile?

Was I supposed to make a separate account as a business?

Re: About facebook pages...

Well, I think most people do what you did. I did. Maybe it doesn't matter, whatever works for you, I guess. It's a little easier for me not to have to log in to 2 separate FB accounts. I just switch by clicking a button.

Plus, I don't care if my friends know I have the page, it's good advertising!

Re: About facebook pages...

I have my Etsy page linked through my personal page. It works well for me to answer. I only have to log into one place.

Re: About facebook pages...

OHH there is another thing though when you have reached the 25 likes you go to edit profile and give your shop's page a username that will give it entity on the facebook search.

Re: About facebook pages...

My only problem is, I don't want people I don't personally know to be able to see my personal profile through my business page. I know they are linked when I see them; however, I do not know if they are linked when others see them.

I just don't want strangers being able to see where I live and go to school for instance.

Re: About facebook pages...

GlitterGluedTogether, I don't think people can see/know that your two pages are connected unless you tell them.

Yay, I finally managed to change my Facebook url! Better now than it was before with all those random numbers!

Glitter I just went to CDC Design's facebook page and you can't see any info on her personal page just what she has made available on her business page so I'm sure it's the same on everyones. Hope this helps you out.

I admit I didnt read all of the posts above so this might have been mentioned, Facebook won't let you have a page unless you have a personal profile.
