Facebook connections

I'd like to start a thread on using Facebook to help us be discovered by our customers. I'm only just beginning myself. If Rhett, David, and any newly joining team members will share their Facebook links, we can visit each others' sites, see what is being done, and share "likes".

Mine is:

Re: Facebook connections

Great idea! I'm a newcomer also, trying to get the hang of this. The challenge seems to be getting your shop products seen.

Re: Facebook connections

Since you haven't posted a link, I'm guessing you might not have a Facebook page yet? Go to Facebook.com, where you can create a business "page". You can use the same business name you use here on Etsy. I did not find it quite as straightforward as creating my Etsy store, but you can find your way.

Once you have a page, you can post things there that you hope will attract the people you think are your main opportunities for customers. As an example, because I build quilt chests I consider quilters a customer target. I email quilt guilds that I have found on the internet. I tell them about a "do-it-yourself quilt drying rack" that I have posted on Facebook. They go to look at it and can't help seeing my quilt chests nearby. So they "discover" what I'm selling without being hit in the face with it. AND THEY SHARE WITH THEIR FRIENDS!

That's the big advantage of Facebook and why it helps our products be seen. What one person discovers there, all their friends see too. So there is a multiplier effect.

Go to my page and see the DIY rack example I'm talking about. (Use the link in my first post). While you are there click a "like" button somewhere. That will help me because it takes a minimum number of "likes" for certain things to work. I will do the same for you once you give me your Facebook link.

Re: Facebook connections

Facebook can help with engagement on the creation of new items, or trials and prototypes that aren't ready for listing. It also give a good way to interact with events.

Re: Facebook connections

I very recently joined Facebook in an attempt to get my work on display. It's already led to a project opportunity. I will definitely check your pages out as well.
