What is your definition of a collection?

What I mean by that is how many pieces? And, do they need to match, or can they just have the same feel, or should the colors go together? I really have no idea and I was asked to show someone a collection.

I think "collection" is a really subjective term. it is what you want it to be. it can be you newest items, items that have a similar feel, items with a similar colour, or just your entire "collection"

Re: What is your definition of a collection?

When I think of a collection, I think of some unifying thing--process, style, color, etc. It's generally a body of work, consisting of 3 pieces or more. Think of people who have a "signature" style: Jean Stark, Harold O'Connor, Steve Midgett. For example, Jean Stark has a "signature" style of granulation. Her "collections" range from granulated miniature Christmas ornaments, granulated rings/necklaces/earrings and woven chains. She also does very precise articulations and terminations, again part of her "signature" style. Steve Midgett's "signature" style is mokume gane, but he has "collections" of wedding rings, tea posts, sculpture, etc. using his mokume gane.

for me a collection is: earrings, studs, necklace, ring, bracelet (not necessarily all of these) that visually are cohesive but they don't have to be identical. I think if it's a shop or gallery asking you need to think about how you would like to be represented as well.
