I have to finalize some things at work and tank over some things on a memory stick. Tomorrow is a day off and Monday I'm off to Vienna for a conference.

Mornin' all! New thread... do we get to continue the discussions that were going on in the old one?

For invoices, I always include them if something is going to a store. I usually include them for individual purchases unless I have an inkling it's a gift going directly to the recipient. My invoices/receipts are hand-written in a pad of 2-part carbonless "Sales Orders" I bought at the drug store. I use the same pad for receipts for in-person sales.

I guess I'm doing things differently. I always print out the etsy order and include it in my package - unless the customer has stated that it is being shipped as a gift.

Should I not be doing this??

Good morning. I am so lazy this morning. I've been reading back about including receipts. I usually print out the Paypal packing label and include it with a handwritten note. I probably don't need to. They could print the receipt from Etsy.

Susan, I hope your girls' lives get back to normal. I know I'd be worried too if it was me.

Erga, someone griped about buying stuff and not getting an invoice with it. She had a little fit and indicated that as far as she was concerned, not including an invoice was poor customer service and deserving of "neutral" feedback.

Wendy, you should do whatever you want to do. I tend to favour the receipt, and as someone pointed out, everything else they buy online from 'normal' companies includes a receipt.

I can't get too worked up about using a single sheet of paper when part of the online business is flying the item across long distances in pollution spewing jets. But that's just me.

huh. yeah, you can print those online. i always include etsy receipt, but that's cuz they go international, and i think it's mandatory for shipping merchandise internationally, but even if it's not, it makes customs faster (and fairer), because they can see actual price and not spend time speculating.

That person who posted that complaint doesn't have enough to worry about. No receipt isn't worth that level of rant IMHO and certainly the seller doesn't deserve neutral feedback for not including one.

The feedback system does need a little tweaking. I did have one 'neutral', was shocked, and learned that the (new) customer thought that was one way of communicating with me - wanted to know about maintenace polishing.

Etsy did delete it once we both cleared up the reason for it. But there should be no confusion allowed from the buyer's point of view about the seriousness of the feedback they leave.
