I've just gotten back into silversmithing 8 months ago and a friend of mine posted on her Facebook that 3 of her friends have lung cancer. I use a good respirator but people told this friend of mine that those don't work against heavy metals. I work downstairs with the window open and a small fan and were my respiratior and googles and am currently using butane but want to get either an Orca or acetylene tank. I'm also purchasing a portable exhaust fan. This post has me a bit freaked out.
Are their other precautions I should be taking? I'm wondering if I should start working outside now.
