Re: Show Us Your Workspace

My hubby has his own machine shop and for the first couple of years, I had a space in the corner of it for metalsmithing...my lampworking studio was inside. Several months ago, I decided to exchange studio spaces since I am doing more metalsmithing than lampworking. Now that I started this post I can't find my pictures so here is a link to my blog post about the move:

Re: Show Us Your Workspace

You are all so neat and tidy! If I had the space to be so neat I wouldn't be ashamed to show my workspace! I also moved my set up mostly into my house so I don't freeze in the garage! Now my house is full of stuff and it is everywhere!

Re: Show Us Your Workspace

Sue, if I had a 'Beavis and Butthead xing' sign in my shop, I would never want for anything more.

Re: Show Us Your Workspace

Hi Ann! Glad you joined the team. I cleaned up the studio yesterday, with a local friend, we spent 2 1/2 hours rearranging the layout and getting rid of about 100 bolts of yarn. I have SPACE!!!

That compliments of my hub. Though we are both big fans.

Re: Show Us Your Workspace

Nice set-up, AdobeSol. So neat!

One suggestion, if you hang you flexshaft motor on a hook, rather than sitting on it, you will feel less fatigued at the end of each work session.

Re: Show Us Your Workspace

darnit I have nothing to add. I gave up my studio in August. I use my office cubicle, secretly at work for now. Off hours of course. :)

Re: Show Us Your Workspace

Okay, I think I win the award for the smallest rickity-ist work bench!

Re: Show Us Your Workspace

Size doesn't matter. It's what you make with it ha ha

Re: Show Us Your Workspace

Nikki, you can make that bench a lot less shaky very easily.

If you can get two pieces of even thin metal strapping, or wood as small as 1" x 2", and make an 'X' shape that covers the back, even just the lower section, and with 5 small bolts attach it at the back, one bolt for each leg of the 'X', one bolt for the crossover of the 'X', it will make it much less flexible.

Same for each side if it wiggles front to back.

An easy fix, world of difference.

Re: Show Us Your Workspace

wow, I don't think I could work on such a small bench. I spread out all over the place. lol My bf got another bench this summer (that makes three in our shop) and I put my soldering station on that. Poor guy built this nice work shop and I took it over lol I need to get some photos of it all after I clean it up. I do love your tumbler though. He keeps saying he will build me one but hasn't yet.
