Last year I raised 10 puppies on bottles for a month and it was awful! I got up every 3 hours and feed all 10 of them.

Janice, I can commiserate. We fortunately have our phone and power back in town, but just enough water for one more day (the pumps are broken). Sorry you have to be without for so long! Where are you?

I just saw pics of my old neighborhood in Hawley. They are missing 3 miles of roads and I'm sure my old house must have been washed down the hillside.

Sue, Two words... Hazmat suit!

Janice, Wow... Are you staying home with the baby and able to nap? I enforced nap time when my kids were young so that I could take a nap too.

Happy September!
it's been quite nice this week here in SoCal (low 70s) but it's chilly and overcast today.. living in a beach town, we totally take it (the ebach) for granted. our family vacation will be to Hawaii in late Oct. hope it's not hurricane season there then.

thinking  thoughts for those of you still dealing with the Irene- leftovers..

smiles!!!

Ggggrrrrrrrr.....we have now waited so long to see the last Harry Potter movie that it's hardly showing anymore. It's almost done with it's run and there are only two times we can go this weekend, neither of which are times we can get a sitter. Grrrrrrr.....

Hey all - I'm in MD (Ellicott City). Most of the county has been restored, but as of yesterday there was still at least one high school without power, and I don't know how many homes. I wish I could nap, but I'm supposed to be working from home - though this week I haven't been able to do so. Today I'm in the office and have my Dad watching the baby. I have been falling asleep on the sofa around 9pm the past couple of nights though as the baby has decided to sleep from about then until midnight - so I'm catching a few good hours early in the evening.

Tammy, ten puppies???! I don't know which would be worse! by the time you get them all fed it must be time to turn around and do it again!

My son's school was closed first day due to power outage - but he went back on Tuesday. . . . its sad though what his breakfasts have looked like the past few days. lol

haha jaime, i had to put this suppository thingy in and on the box, it said in giant red capital letters- RECTAL ROCKET. i brought the box into the room and my patient saw it and she asked, what the hell are you doing? we both ended up laughing so hard we had tears in our eyes. who names this stuff?

good god that is funny. I am guessing a man was behind that one. ( no offense to the boys here)
I mean, you'd think you want to name something like that something that wouldn't be so alarming lol

Popping in...what's a good inside diameter for a round bangle bracelet? Silver prices be damned!! AND, what's the minimum gauge do you think??

Re: September Chat thread

Ann, 2.5" is pretty much a standard inside diameter for a bangle.

The wire size is up to you. I've never made them under 2.0mm/12G, but I can see maybe down to 1.25mm/16G if it is work hardened after soldering, ideally by hammering.

But a bangle that light will be thought of by customers as very light, hence not so very expensive.

Re: September Chat thread

ditto what CG said-
16ga is a nice "weight" for multiples, like sets of 5+
14ga could be more stand alone, but again work hardened/hammered for strength

I have a friend of a friend asking me to make some right now actually - she wants 16 gauge but they will be hammered.
I was also going to say 2.5 is pretty standard.

Hi Janice- sorry things are so tough-you can always come to my house and have wine- bring the baby I have loads of toys- expecting another granddaughter in Dec!!!

16 gauge bangles? Wow- I had to stop making 14 g because I had so many customer comments that they bent and I hammered the heck out of 14g and tumbled. Although it could be that no matter what I said about proper measurement people buy stuff too small and jam them over a too big hand!

the "bending" of the 16g gives them a nice "organic" look.. i think if they are hammer textured anyway and not "perfect", it's all good..
it puts a little ::wiggle:: in them.
:o)
