Thanks Pennee for the compliment on my black bird earrings. I think the next ones are going to be woodpeckers.
I spent too long polishing calla lily pendants today. Those babies are so hard to keep shiny through multiple solderings. I have to polish before soldering because some parts are barely reachable afterwards.
Erin's right; at a bare minimum they want to be the only gallery in their region carrying your pieces Gayle. It's always negotiable. I have exclusivity in my town for some artists. Some artists do not grant exclusivity. It's up to you. If you do grant it make sure they stock a good selection of your work.
Thanks Erin and Laura for the feedback. I already sell in town at a gift shop so I can't give them exclusivity to our region. I may have to discuss with them more on exactly what they mean. They were wanting to make sure that since I sell online, they wouldn't be competing with me in selling the same stuff. Not sure.
I think most all galleries expect you will not undercut their pricing on line. I think most I know have one line just for galleries, then different stuff on line to avoid that
No such luck. Then I left my charger box with them and it wasn't with the ipad. So, the guy tries to give me a small box for an iphone...... um, no. I gave up the cord and settled for a box.
At least my custom came through and paid. I hope the construction goes better than the rest of my life lately.
Gayle...I take the exclusivity to mean that you will not sell the same pieces online or elsewhere and especially for a lower price. I always made sure that what I had in the gallery was not listed on my Etsy site. Mostly, because it would have been a pain to have to pull from the gallery. I would ask the gallery for clarification on what they mean by exclusivity.
No studio time after all, BUT, I did get a small ride in (just a few walk steps), but big progress. I'll catch up this weekend in the shop.
How's the wind factor Laura? We're just getting a freezing mix, it's white out there but not much. Wind is around 18 mph right now. Hoping it doesn't get as bad as predicted- losing power is my least fav thing in wingter
It's windy but not too bad. Sounds like there's more east of us and in the valley. We did have a little power blip so I filled a bunch of buckets with water and am keeping the dishes washed up as we use them. It looks like winter out there though!
I’m still amazed when I hear all this talk of winter storms and then look out my window. The sun is shining, everything is green and the thermometer is reading 68. I used to love winter up north, for a month or 2. It was just too long in reality.
Erin, I must be on the opposite side of the sales go round from you. When you were on fire I was dead. Now you’re slow and I have 3 open orders. My February was abysmal.
I think so. It's giving me time to work on other stuff - plus, last year was about the same. It would just be nice if it were a little more consistent.
Just heard this latest storm is suppose to turn into another bombogenesis in the northeast. Not much snow on the coast but flooding rains along with the full moon and massive winds. Stay safe if you’re in it’s path.
