I expect it's a day full of plans for most. And others who welcome a chance to sleep in.

I would have liked to sleep in. And Erga could have slept in and still checked in a few hours ago. Bet she's busy. :)

Is the mail functioning properly again?

Seems to be working. I'm still waiting on cheques and parcels.

And for the record, frost on the truck again this morning. Promises to be a sunny and warm day.

Oh my! That would be really unusual here. We had very hot weather last week and the hottest weather was close to the arctic circle around what they call the Riviera of the north (around Luleå). They never have any spring either but go directly from winter to summer. A bit fast for me.

Re: Jubilantly Jaunting into July - Chat Thread

You have the maritime moderating effect nearby, plus the altitude being near sea level.

It's mainly the altitude where I am that allows the summer frosts.

I think I'm looking at your area on google maps now. Are you close to the 97?

Between Hwy 97 and the Fraser river. At about 1000m.

It does look mountainy. Or reticulated. :)

Re: Jubilantly Jaunting into July - Chat Thread

It's not really mountains, sort of a high plateau between the Fraser river and maybe 50 miles further east. Lots of small hills and open peaty meadows. No large rivers.

Yes, you don't really see that it's high up unless you look at the river and see that it looks steep there. But maybe that's more to the south from where you are.

Re: Jubilantly Jaunting into July - Chat Thread

I'm about 60km east of the river.

My neighbour's property (where sister's family used to live) has a peat filled hayfield. They had a backhoe dig down near the treed edge, and had to stop at 14 ft down, solid peat. All filled in since the last ice age, c.10,000 years ago. At about the 13 ft l;evel there was a piece of a willow branch that was preserved so well it could have been buried for a year.

Can understand the thrill of archeology.

Morning Liz!

Peat seems to be good for preservation, little oxygen and all. Remember seeing this body of a man that they dug up in the Netherlands. His face was all leathery brown, and his hair was red.

Re: Jubilantly Jaunting into July - Chat Thread

throbbing headache!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

ok so I don't drink coffee very often. it doesn't take much for me to become a spaztic bunny on coffee.

yet I decided to follow the directions saying to substitute coffee for water in my henna hair dye yesterday. I have decided to try dark brown/ebony color for a bit instead of the red.

well I had to leave it one for an hour ... I forgot about transdermal absorbtion .... total and I 'm not putting this lightly *fucking* intense pain it felt like I was being capped by a freshly annealed metal helmet (red hot) and then would alternate to my brain was too big and going to explode out of my skull. my neck spasming the whole night on top of it and tears......

note to self do not use coffee instead of water and let it sit on your scalp for an hour ...... I'm assuming the caffeine dilated my blood vessels. Sue? what do you think.
my hair is a nice dark brown now but I certainly paid the price to have a natural dye to make it so.

Re: Jubilantly Jaunting into July - Chat Thread

I use Rainbow brand Henna. make my hair so soft and shiny I have women coming up to me and ask me what color I use and then ask if they can touch it. LOL! It's funny to have your hair stroked by "strangers" But then again it's not much different from people asking if they can rub your pregnant belly.

my personal space bubbles only apply to men in general (no offense guys)
it's only if I'm approached by men/boys with disabilities that I'm very allowing of the personal space stuff

Dh fixed the leak under the sink, but the fridge is no longer of this world.
Today I DON'T drink a second coffee, eat a decent breakfast, be patient and courteous to customers.
Ok, half a second cup of coffee.

Re: Jubilantly Jaunting into July - Chat Thread

morning all.
liz, i don't know about the transdermal absorption of caffeine. sorry, can't help you there. the skin is a pretty awesome barrier and most things really don't get through to the bloodstream- think about it, if everything we touched or had on got into our bloodstream, what would be the function of skin? it is supposed to be the barrier between us and the world and it is. most drugs need special manipulation by adding on "carrier molecules" and such in order for them to be transdermally absorbed. even with this technology, most drugs are still not able to be manipulated for transdermal absorption. There are very few that are available. not sure what happened to you but that's my little science blurb about transdermal drugs this morning.

esme- glad you liked elbow. a terrific little band that doesn't get the recognition they deserve.
i've got to inventory on an excel spreadsheet (no, i don't know how to do excel) for the ann arbor art fair coming up. this is the first year they are requiring excel. i think it's gonna be a long day....
