High Altitude Soldering

I am having a hard time soldering 14 gauge to 20 gauge copper with Butane - a jumbo torch - and I suspect the problem is high altitude 6200'. Has anyone any information on this?

Re: High Altitude Soldering

Nance,
I have no information on it, but we're at 7,000+ and I couldn't solder copper with a Butane torch unless it was really teeny tiny. I never thought altitude would be the problem, but now that you mention it, it makes sense. I got an acetylene torch for Christmas and it solved my problems, LOL. :)

Re: High Altitude Soldering

Thank you so much for responding. I truly think that is the answer as I have been clean and careful w/ connections. I am glad to know an acetylene torch will do the job!. Nance
