Someone in town told me they thought a 'smartphone' of some type was needed to open an IG account, even if not needed to access it. Not true? Will a tablet let me open an IG account? ------------ Hey, it's Monday so CG is revisiting the tech stuff!
Yes, a tablet should work.
Earlier, I was talking about operating systems and programs and apps, and I've thought of another way to put it: operating systems can be divided into two categories: computer OSes (used for desktop and laptop computers) and mobile OSes (used for smart phones and tablets). Software for computer OSes is usually called "programs" or "applications", whereas software for mobile OSes is usually called "apps".
A program or app is written for a specific operating system; if it's available on different operating systems, that's because the developer made different versions for each OS. A program written for one computer OS can be made to work with a different computer OS fairly easily, and an app written for one mobile OS can be made to work with a different mobile OS fairly easily. BUT it's much harder to convert an app to a computer program or vice versa.
Which is why it's fairly common to find a program available for both Windows and Mac, or an app available for both iOS and Android, but comparatively rare to find software that works for, say, Android and Windows.
Nothing at all. They're not high carbon tool steel but for punching on sterling, just fine. They will take a fairly high polish, and unless a work area is totally spotless, and the work piece is spotless, a high polish on anything would have to be maintained. and you can just shape them easily, no tempering. They won't hold a finely detailed shape forever but that's not what I have in mind.
Says 'case hardened', that's just the surface, should be easily shapable with a file, at least after the case hardening has been ground off. Looks useful to me.
I have no desire to do that myself. I like my pottery trimming tools but they do have to be carbon steel or carbide I have enough for now and I don't think there's chasing in my future.
I always used a little Flux when I did a lot of fusing. Just seemed to go smoother. I use Flux when I fuse karat gold bezels. Maybe I don't need to there either. Guess the answer is whatever you want to do it'll go.
Spindle - they are very sturdy covers and I ink they offer greater protection. There's a nice thick piece of something that might be cardboard between the layers and it just looks like a book when it's closed. I've had mine for 2-1/2 years. I throw it in my tennis bag, my purse, the car seat. I am not easy on it.
Not necessarily. If you mean the inside joint is opening up, could it be that more heat is reaching the outside piece? After just being tacked somewhere not the joint the extra heat on the outside piece is stretching it and pulling the joint apart? Did you stretch the inside piece to make it snug for soldering?
