The first summer month. Carry on...

Re: Chatting In June

Good morning.
Have to hit the grocery store this morning. Then, I'm in for the rest of the day. It's just too hot to survive out there.
M starts his PT today. Everyone please cross your fingers that he keeps it up. I don't like to go to the grocery store.

Wishing M a positive PT- it can be hard and so easy to get discouraged when it's uncomfortable. If I lived close, I'd go to the store for you Kit- I go about 4 times a week- not lousy planning, I just like to go and see what's new!

Re: Chatting In June

Has anyone heard from L. Sue lately?

I love going to the store all by myself. It's a little mental vacaton.

We are considering one week of nursing home rehab for FIL. We think it would be better all around for him.

Morning! Heading to the gym this morning. It's getting harder and harder to shed the winter fluff.

Still no motivation to do any jewelry. I did clean off a section in the studio and cleaned out a drawer or two.

Re: Chatting In June

Yesterday was a surprising productive day and I have a new pendant just about ready to photo. Just have to finish setting the stone.

Some days I don’t mind grocery. More I hate trying to plan meals. I am sick of everything I make and all the restaurant food too. If I could I’d eat cinnamon bread toast for every meal. LOL

Re: Chatting In June

a week is good if he progresses fast Erin- might want to stay open to a bit longer. Mostly the elderly just get antsy and want to go home and get uncooperative if they don't get to go - having a professional to push and make them do the rehab is better than a family member fighting them to do it. We had really bad experiences with the dh's mom- she would only do her rehab stuff at the home or when the home health people came- never daily like she was supposed to. At 89 she was determined to do only what she wanted to do

Re: Chatting In June

Isn't that the truth Terri? It's not the buying or even the cooking- it's thinking of what to have after 50 years of cooking. And we live in a small town so I have all the menus memorized- and none of it appeals any more. I am so thinking about 3 days a week delivery stuff. One of my local groceries is now carrying Hello Fresh kits- I may try some to see if they are interesting enough for me to sign up for a while just to break things up

Re: Chatting In June

He's already outpaced what was expected, since they didn't expect him to survive the surgery. Honestly, to us, this is mostly for AC, clean food, and sanitary living conditions. Plus, if he's there, they'll make him get up and walk. If he's at home, he'll sit in a chair all day and sleep, or else they'll go ride around in her car -- after he's had major surgery.

Re: Chatting In June

I am a recent witness to the progess that happens in a good rehab and also how easy it is for the patient to slip back if they don't continue to do their exercises at home. Hubs spent 2 weeks in a rehab although it's NOT a nursing home perse. All ages of patients there. 2 weeks was the average stay and that's what it took hubs to go from not even being able to hike himself up in the bed to being able to walk and even go up and down stairs. Now they've finally approved him for outside PT and it's making a world of difference. now I have to hold him back from doing TOO much.

Have fun spending time with the girls and horses, Pennee. Sounds like my perfect kind of day.

Re: Chatting In June

We tried getting him into the hospital's rehab, but they said he could walk 75 feet, so he was doing "too well" to be admitted there. He needs to be able to life his foot over his bathtub and go up stairs. There are two very good facilities south of town - maybe, if we can get him to agree, we can go to one of those.

Erin - if he goes to the rehab, will his lady friend come back to your house?

Re: Chatting In June

He needs to be convinced Erin - don't suppose your dh happens to have his power of attorney and all the power stuff for medical decisions? Even though dh is still firing on all 8 cylinders he did up his 3 years ago and split stuff between his lawyer son and I- mostly because he knows all the kids would make emotional decisions about medical stuff. I get to be the sensible bad guy but it is for the best since no one in the family has any medical training at all. I should be able to explain things so they aren't confused if it ever comes to that

Morning!

Yes, the year has flown already. Now that my girls are out of the house, I still do not have enough time for all that I need to get done.

We're replacing brakes on my van today. One of the brake pads on the right side was down to bare metal. O.O

One side is done - onward and yonward.
