screwed up the patina, though. forgot to put it in los before setting. now there is one little spot that is shiny. am accepting advice.

Ann, I miss talking to you too. It's good to be a happy 'medium', no? :)

Nice ring, Rachel. I love the stamped and detailed back. If you are feeling brave, I'd clean the spot with some fine emery and try painting LOS with a tiny paint brush just there after you run the ring under hot water to heat it up. The LOS gel works great for me and I've done a few patina repairs that way.

I love your ring Rachel. I agree with what Laura suggested. The gel LOS allows you to touch up the finish easily. Maybe that will work for you.

Having lunch today with high school friend I have not seen for 30+ yrs. She's now a priest. It should be quite interesting. We reconnected on facebook and she's in town visiting her parents.
The sky is dark....looks like a storm might be coming. No one else up yet?

Very nice ring Rachel! The bright spot is under the stone? I wonder if you could set it in a jar of LOS in an ultrasonic...see if you could jiggle the stuff under the stone? It's a beautiful ring but not sellable right not, right? So, you might as well try to fix it. If you wreck it then at least you tried and you will have learned a lot more than if you left it be.

So, I cleaned up the bezel on my 2nd attempt at this pendant I want to make and it looks like there is only one teeny tiny scratch in the stone that I can't even find without my optivisor. I feel like I can't sell it, which sucks. Any scratch is a scratch, no matter how small, right? It's in the tumbler now. Any thoughts on how to get rid of a teeny scratch in a prehnite??

It's not as pretty, but if you haven't done it already, use descriptive titles rather than clever or cute ones to help with your search ranking.

Rachel, that white spot must be from a by chance perfect contact between the stone and the metal not allowing the los in.

I wonder if a variety of temps for an los solution might find a sweet spot where the sterling contracts or expands a bit to pull away from the underside of the stone.

NO don't put moon stone in an ultrasonic not ever ever it is a feldspar and can fracture be a shame that is such a lovely ring

Gorgeous ring Rachel- sympathy from me- done the same thing too often with LOS- I think it's wonderful the way it is- fabulous stone!
