Allegedly, Etsy gives "more weight to real, organic placed Faves from a searching buyer, as opposed to click click click faves from fellow team members/sellers." This is to prevent skewing relevancy rating that could come from hundreds of favourites. Even if most of us sellers are also buyers.

On September 12th, Etsy planned to update Etsy Teams. For some reason, that was delayed until further notice. Many Captains/Leaders have been begging for years for management tools to prevent cheating and remove fake shops. We are hoping this will be in the new version.
