It is effective to re-pin the same item - But presently,  it is said - for the best Pinterest visibility is to re-pin the same item after waiting 7 -10 day period. If you are personally re-pinning the same item back to back 15 - 20+ times the new Pinterest algorithm makes it appear to be bot spam. If other pinners pin it 15 - 20+ times - it is effective, like the active collaborators in this thread.
