Love this initiative Mike!
Glad you like it @FrozenCactus1 A lot of conversations, inspiration, and research drove this new journey. And we'll be trying new things and making adjustments as we go along. In the end, it's about living a good life. THANKS AGAIN!
Hi Mike,
Thanks for the meaningful post. With Covid taking up most of the last 2 years I have not been participating in my community. I stayed in and stayed safe. You have inspired me to do something good today and hopefully the rest of my good life. It is a beautiful day here in upstate NY, I will make the best of it. Have a good one Everybody!!!
@mybeads4you Hey "neighbor!" I hope you'll share your good deeds with us. We could use the inspiration.
And it has been beautiful since the snowstorm. It's been pretty warm and sunny in Rochester. Nice to bring the pup for walks again. THANKS!
YYYYHappy Valentine's DayYYYY
♥ HAPPY VALENTINES @mybeads4you TOO! ♥
My *real job* employer recently adopted a deaf child from India and she's been struggling with anxiety ever since. She's second-guessing every decision and trying really hard just to keep up with the new child's doctor's appointments as well as the lives of her several other kids. Since I'm terrible at making conversation I wrote her a note just to remind her that what she's doing is worthwhile. She taped it to her bedroom mirror.
Written word is better than spoken in some ways--if you write somebody a note they can keep it as long as they need to and your words won't be marred by memory.
@PigInATeapot THANK YOU FOR SHARING MORGAN! I'm sure your employer really, REALLY appreciates your kindness and support. We all need reminders that we're not alone in our anxiety and pain. And people like us in the ART Team know how important it is to mutually support each other. HAVE A GREAT WEEKEND!
For those who are still wearing their masks, like me, I can still see your smile. Cheeks can't lie, I see them raising above the top of your mask.
Kindness and support, nice to know we are not alone. @PigInATeapot great job!!
Have a great weekend!!
You're great Mike.
Thanks for this great initiative. I live in Turkey and politically and economically terrible decisions are made in my country. All non-recyclable garbage of Europe is sent to Turkey. I'm forming teams to clean up the environment and trying to do my part. That's why I make sure that everything I produce is recyclable.
@JaguArtDeco What a wonderful response. I hope you'll take photos and share your good work with us
I will share it with you as soon as possible. It's good to know I'm not alone. Let's inspire each other and make the world a better place to live. I am hopeful. Good people will win...
@JaguArtDeco You are never alone. And we should always support good people doing good things.
I too, stayed in as much as possible during the last 2 years with COVID, only getting out when needed. I knew so many were battling. . . stress, depression, job loss, fears, schooling their children from home, etc. and feeling alone & hopeless. We love helping others, so I began to ask myself what could we do to try & make a difference in our community during these uncertain times? We were personally so blessed during this time, so we bought extra food when we did our shopping & put boxes of food together to give to families in need. We had been waiting & waiting for this crazy stuff to be done so we could have a garage sale & declutter. Instead, I posted furniture, clothing, dishes (all kinds of stuff) on our local FB Marketplace & also gave to those who were in need of things. One of the most rewarding gifts we were able to give was taking in a nice young man for a couple nights, last winter, during the most frigid temperatures, as he was living in a house with little to no heat. Even giving what may seem small to us, is often a great blessing to others
Wishing Everyone a Blessed Weekend and an Abundant New Year
@DebonnairDesigns Friends helping friends. Neighbors helping neighbors. What an amazing person you are. And hopefully, you'll inspire others by your generosity. THANK YOU!
Thank you Mike, It so wonderful to see these last 2 years all the kindness that still exists in the world! Love, kindness & generosity are contagious & we can never have too much
I like this post. Its true we have been struggling to see the beauty instead of the ugliness. I think it starts by supporting each other and our communities. I shop local, usually at family owned small shops. I have started buying more from other Etsy sellers. I support local thrift shops, and groups for 55 and up. I have met and made friends. We have a little shop in our town that has hand made items exclusively from folks above 50 from knit and crocheted items to paintings to stained glass. I have shopped and donated baby blankets, knitted dishcloths, mittens and other hand made items. I am a nurse and have worked at our local nursing home for several years and can see how much we need and support each other.
Thank you for this thread! As a new art business owner some days are a struggle and discouraging. It's nice to read about other people's lives and contributions.
@eileengonzalez That's wonderful. And isn't that what life is all about? Making friends and taking care of each other. And please share with the group when you find something good.
Yes it is what life is about. We do need to support and take care of each other.
@Biomimi The life of an artist and a business owner is not easy. And glad that you've been able to find it helpful. We're still trying to define exactly what we're doing. And then how to do whatever that is. But, encouraging people to see beauty in everything is important. It's obvious in the arts. But, it's the neighborhoods we live in, how we treat each other, and in the decisions we make. So we're happy you're participating!
