Help Improve the Art Team

Hey fellow artists and collectors!
Thanks so much for all your hearts, views, and support. It means a lot to me. I have been asked to captain this wonderful team and I would like to start by asking you for your suggestions. What can this team do to support your artistic efforts? How can we help collectors find unique items? THANKS AGAIN and please let me know if you need anything or have any questions.

This team has been posting a GARGANTUAN amount of listings.

Don't expect to sell much of anything, if you are listing art and walking away. You have to promote like crazy. Sometimes, I have to get 1000+ views to get a sale. Re-list your art, use every tag space available, use relevant tags and descriptions, post your art on social media, utilize the etsy search ads.


Like anything else in life, whatever you put in, you'll get out. Any business takes a few years to get established You have to 'prime the pump' so to speak. 80% of my time in the first 2 years was spent on marketing, treasury making, seo optimization, networking, building an online presence, social media, etc... It take a lot of time to get noticed. But if you put in the hours, not only will you meet some great people along the way, your sales will increase exponentially.

That is my .02 cents. :)

And Mike Kraus is a fine example of doing just that.

I know treasuries are no longer an important marketing tool on etsy BUT I still love making them and gain followers by doing so.

The only way to sucessfully make team treasuries is with an actual team account.

Someone would need to start a team profile (with it's own email adress) and then give team members the password and we could all load (fav) our own items in the account.

Once it is set up, we can all go there ans search by style, color, subject, whatever and make treasuries from the account.

The good thing about Ts no longer being on the front page is they no longer need to be a diverse array of items. They could be 100% art.

If we all have art lovers as followers and made beautiful art treasurries it might have an impact.

these Ts can also be tweeted, posted on pinterest, etc....

OR, if this is too much work, we could start themed threads to help us.

I'd like to see a modern/zen kind of thread while others may prefer a colorful landscape thread etc...

Thanks for all ! You are right we need our own team like you said. I found the SEO is the important but difficulty for me get more views. Art needs time to create, but the treasuries like a number game also takes lot of time to grow! That's inconsistent!

I don't know if I'm actually an artist, I blow glass and only some of it is what I consider artistic, so I appreciate any tips I can get! But I volunteer to do team treasuries.

Did you notice if you type painting there is way more results than the 250 pages. with 48 listings per page. Meaning not everything is shown and this is a big problem...

they have an affiliate program and it does help. I noticed there is some artist who do well on Etsy so it's possible to make a living with the paintings but there is unfortunatly competition from oversea who distribute prints you can find also on Ebay and all over at unbeatable prices. So it's difficult to sell and be consistant. An affiliate system on Etsy would pay blogger a perc. of the sale and they do promote aggressivly online (from zazzle experience). The only thing at Zazzle you get a royalty based but you set it up.... On etsy you get the full profit but you take all the risk and promo so at the end you may get less. BTW Listing on Zazzle is free... and long term!

Find out the benefits of selling art on Etsy VS selling on Deviantart (sp?) and or Ebay and make an article.

Hey Mike,

Coming up with viable marketing ideas that work on a team platform is challenging. One idea that might fly because it requires a minimum (that being relative) amount of time on one person is something I participate on another team I am on. Other teams might be doing something similar . . .

It is a weekly or perhaps monthly treasury challenge
Once a week a team challenge is posted to create a treasury based on a chosen item from previous winner's shop then everyone promotes the treasury through twitter, blogs, facebook . .. whatever.

Rules should not be too restrictive . . . maybe four items have to be from members, the previous winner's item has be to in the top row, the new winner is chosen by the previous winner, a team tags need to be used in the treasury

The upside of participating is the person who wins gets their item/shop promoted by any members that choose to participate the next week.

If you want to give something version of this a shot I would be willing to help with organizing things just send me a convo and we can give it a try.
