I had a woman contact me about purchasing a 3500.00 painting. She was going to have a private shipper come and pick it up and wanted to know what the purchase price would be without the shipping. I gave her a figure and told her I would reduce the purchase price by that ammount asnd that she could purchase it the usual way (the shopping cart icon) on my Shop.
She said she needed my phone number and address for her shipper and she was ready to make the purchase by pay pal.
She had origianllt said ahe was out of the country on a work project and she was having difficulty in "wiring" the money to her shipper, and asked if I would be willing to wire the money to her shipper and she would reimburse me through pay pal.
I had suspected from the start that something was not legit about this transaction, because she had no Etsy account and aske for me to contact her through her private email.
I told her I would be happy to pay her shipper the shipping cost, and instructed her to let me know the dollar ammount so I could add it to the purchase price of the painting, Then she could make the purchase through pay pal and when the money was in my account, I would forward the shipping cost onto her shipper.
Of course I never heard from her again. Heads up, times are tough and the cons are on!!
