can't install without Microsoft Office 2007?

I have the latest version of Microsoft office (2013) on my laptop. When I try to install Zetsy including the components by clicking the "Install' button on this page: http://estoregadgets.com/software/zetsy/publish.htm, I get an error telling me this:

An error stating OLEDB12 was NOT found -> Goto http://www.microsoft.com/en-us/download/details.aspx?id=18346 to instal a needed component of Zetsy

I go to that Microsoft page, and run the install for the 2007 Microsoft Office System Update: Redistributable Primary Interop Assemblies. it extracts the files and I double click on o2007pia.msi to install it. then I get the error:

Please install Microsoft Office 2007 before installing this product.

Do I have to downgrade my version of Office to use your software?

p.s. - sorry I missed a step. I get the OLEDB12 error after Zetsy loads and I click "Sync with Shop".

Sorry for the delayed response. I was traveling for Thanksgiving. The error you are getting is caused by the program being unable to save to the underlying Access database for some reason. If you have Office 2013 installed this error should not be coming up and there is no reason to downgrade to 2007. I'm not sure why this error is occurring. Can you tell me what operating system your running? I've seen this error in my error data logs and have been puzzled why this is occurring.
FYI the program will run fine without a proper save to the database. You'll just have to re download your shop every time and ignore the error (which is a pain).
I will try to get to the root cause. If anyone else is observing this error please let me know.

thanks for your response. i'm running windows 8. with respect to downloading the shop every time, do you mean synchronizing the 1700+ items each time I use the app? I think this would take a long time every time I do it, especially as the number of items grows in the thousands. please do let me know!

sorry chris - but just so I understand - are you saying I don't need to install the MS interop assemblies if I have office 2013, or that they should install without requiring MS office 2007? or something else? the readme says MS office 2007 is required. I assumed the error in zetsy is occurring because I can't install the component/interop assemblies.

Your correct - and I think the documentation needs to be updated. Zetsy uses an Access database for storage. (If you have Access 2007 or later you can actually open this database.) The current installation program installs the necessary Access drivers if needed. The current install program SHOULD install the correct drivers - and its not in your case. If your running Office 2013 the correct drivers should also be on your system as well. Perhaps complicating this is that there are different flavors of Office 2013. Is Access 2013 included in your Office ?. There is is a possible issue that I'm going to look into further and I'll let you know.

to answer your question, yes - Access 2013 is a part of the Office 2013 suite I purchased. should I look to see if the correct drivers are present on my system? if you tell me what the filenames are, i'll have a look. Also, if they are NOT present, for whatever reason, could I just download them from somewhere and copy them to whatever directory/folder they're supposed to be in?
I assume they should be here though - if I understood you correctly, since I have Access 2013 running on this system, the drivers should already be in place and as such Zetsy would have no need to install them. which then begs the question of what other problem would be causing these errors to occur?

i'm thinking I should uninstall and reinstall and see if that fixes the problem. just so you know, I did try to install the beta version first. not sure if that mucked something up somewhere as when I got errors in the beta version, I tried to install the released version after. do you have any instructions on performing a clean uninstall of Zetsy? or does your uninstall program actually take care of every single artifact of the installation (e.g. registry settings, zetsy-specific drivers, miscellaneous other little files, etc.)?
lastly, where would I find the database, if I wanted to just open it up using access 2013?

Sorry I've been slow in responding, but my wife's shop has been really busy. I'm the needed "support" person !
I don't think reinstalling will help. I'm convinced that its related to the Access driver. I have 2013 on my developer machine and I routinely check builds with 2 Win7 machines, one with no Office installed. All of these work, but I know these errors are out there,

There seems to be some problems with x64 and x32 versions. Zetsy is programmed as a 32 bit version to avoid these problems - which didn't work.

I'm in the midst of an upgrade from Visual Studio 2012 to 2013 and Win 8 to Win 8.1 as well. You can try this link or wait until I get a new version up there where I think I will switch to the Office 2013 drivers. I'll be more than happy to have you help check this out. If you want the link above gives a pretty good description of how common (ugh!) this error is with Microsoft.

I might be able to pull the driver in from Open Access to do the same thing as the Access driver. Its something I can look at. The Access file is saved under My Documents / Zimpro with your sjops name followed by _auto.zet This file can be open by Access and you can see the entire complex database in all of its glory.

If you make any progress let me know. I think my approach may be to upgrade the program and drivers to Office 2013. I don't see any error discussions with this driver!

Hi Peter,

Sorry for the delay, but as I told Julia I've been helping out with our Etsy shop.
Etsy does have a limited csv listing output. Zetsy also has this capability and the capability to adjust, sort, and format this list.

There are two ways of doing this. First the simple method.
Zetsy does allow export to an excel file. Under the filter menu on the left side you will see a button that says export. The viewable list is exported to excel through that function.

Under the menu Shop Info | Listings you can output reports. All of the reports can be output as csv or xls files. Choose the simple inventory list and select preview. Anew window opens up. On the top menu of the preview report select the icon third from the right side. If you hover over the icon you will see Export document come up. Over at our blog I touch very briefly about the power of the report writer residing in Zetsy.

Yet a third possibility if you have Access is to open up the file. You can export queries and tables this way.

Let me know if you or anyone else has interest in the report excel outut because I can create new "built-in" template.
