Upcoming changes to Etsy Variations and its impact on programs like this

Etsy posted the following last month:

We’ll soon be launching new tools for all sellers to allow them to represent their inventory more accurately in their listings, giving them more control over how they set their prices and manage their stock.
We’ll also be rolling out additional tools around “structured data” - ways to allow sellers to describe their items in ways that have a consistent meaning to buyers (and - importantly - to our search systems).
These updates are exciting, but they do have implications for the Open API

For Zetsy this will have implications in price change editing. I'm working on supporting these new features when they become available. I'm also expecting to support variation changes - its something pur fabric shop really needs! This will likely mean that the next update to the program will NOT occur until we can support the new features. Stay tuned!

What was stated a month ago is now coming. I have been working to get this incorporated in time for the change-over. I'm not sure I will make it in time. The potential issue with the current program is price changes with variations. Other features of the program should not impacted.

This support IS coming and the program will now support variations when this is completed. Watch for additional announcements here.

From Etsy the following info :

* The launch process proper will begin on 14 February (a day earlier than previously stated). At this point, sellers will start to be ramped into the new UI without them having opted in to a prototype.

* When a seller has authorized third party apps with listings_w permission which have not yet been marked as compatible with the new endpoints, they will still see messages about possible issues with those apps.

* Sellers will have the option to deauthorize apps they're no longer using, to just wait on using them until they're compatible, or to use them and see if anything breaks.

* In addition, they will be given the option to opt out of the new tools entirely. This opt-out will be available until Wednesday 31 May. At this point, all sellers be enrolled in the new tools, and we'll be deprecating the incompatible endpoints.
