We are starting a weekly chat here. Each week will be talk abotut a variety of things relating to etsy, vintage, selling, sales etc. These weekly chats will be a positive place where people can share ideas.

Well I can give you my thought on what I think is trending. Of course anythng spring and summer. TIME TO PUT AWAY WINTER VINTAGE! I have noticed that the 40s era clothing sells really well on etsy and so does vintage shoes. I have sold a variety of items so far and cant really say whats trending for my shop but I have been paying attention to whats selling in vtg clothes right now and its definitely summer dresses.
Selling point>>> hum... well It really depends upon what your selling and the quality of the item. I find that the more professional the photo the higher you will get for the item and of course if its a flawless vtg item then you will get more out of it. Im sure you have noticed the realy high priced vtg dresse that are going for up to $300! wow! you have to understand these sellers have been here for a long time some as far back as 2007 when etsy opened. They will always be at the top of the list and so they should be. I truly believe photography is everything here on etsy and if you are going to succeed your going to need very good photos and creative. Also, follow your competition and pay attention to what their selling and why?
I try to think like Im the buyer and actually I was a vtg clothing buyer way before I started selling. I know what Im willing to pay for a vtg dress and thats how I base my prices an its definitely not $200.

I'm definitely listing spring at the moment and will be going to select and transport a big load of summer items this weekend from our home base. Keep your fingers crossed that I find some extra wonderful goodies!

Do any of you know how often you come across people that buy vintage in bulk?

I've wondered that question myself Samantha. I have so much stuff to move that I might end up selling bulk lots at some point in the future.
