When is best time to approach a buy about Christmas items?

I am currently consigning work with a few shops and would like to try to get a few wholesale accounts next year. My items are wool sculptures, jewelry and ornaments that typically sell the best from September through the holidays. For those with experience in wholesaling, when do shops typically start thinking about placing orders for the holidays? I am trying to make sure I don't approach them too early. Thank you!

I would start approaching store buyers in August. I have had stores buy as late as early November for Christmas. Also stores for the holidays will bring in a few unique items. For example a clothing store might bring in some jewelery even though they do not normally stock jewelery.
