Inventory/Sales

I have a question. I am now in over a dozen shops, and need to get into some program so as to log my sales, my inventory, my product orders and got a program online free. INFLOW.......... But it is free until a certain point and is over $100. I don't have the cash and won't put anything on credit. SOOO, do you have any suggestions? I have a newer computer and I see Excell, but will that work OR do i need more STUFF than just Excell. I am an artist, NOT a computer, account or even that good with math. I have to learn, and my husband is going to help me.. I JUST need to input about programs for businesses. THANK YOU.

Re: Inventory/Sales

First, congratulations on your success!!!

It doesn't matter what you use to keep track of your sales & expenses, only that you do so. You could do it the old-fashioned way with a ledger & quill pen, as long as you're keeping complete and accurate records. :-)

Personally, I use Excel for my bookkeeping and it works well for me. I sell retail & wholesale, online and at craft fairs, but it all gets recorded on the same spreadsheet.

Re: Inventory/Sales

I use StitchLabs, an online inventory program that connects with Etsy, Paypal, various shipping, and is a great tool. I am very happy with it!

Nicole, I'd be happy to try and help you with Excel, but I'm afraid that I don't understand your last post, sorry.

Re: Inventory/Sales

Hi Nicole, I don't know nuttin' about Quickbooks, sorry. Are you just getting started (at least on an "official" level), or are you familiar with IRS Schedule C and business taxes? (you can google for that Schedule).

I know people (jewelers, in particular) who track every single bead, charm, finding, etc. If that's what you're trying to do, then hopefully someone who does that will see your post and reply. Meanwhile, maybe you could look for a Quickbooks class at a local community college?

Re: Inventory/Sales

ok.... Thank you. I may have to NOT WORRY, "every single item" I might just do some paper/pencil MATH and see how much EVERY card is to make, and then use that PRICE. Thank you.
