Introduce Yourself

Hi I'm Lynset Weaver and I weave on a rigid heddle loom that is only 10 inches wide but still produces lovely things.

I started this team to bring together the weaving sellers on Etsy and as a place to represent the craft.

New members please say hi here.

Re: Introduce Yourself

Hello, I am a fairly new weaver. I received a 15" Cricket rigid heddle loom about 2 years ago for Christmas and was hooked! I purchased a 22" Harrisville floor loom this summer at an estate sale. So far I have not had the time, or courage, to learn how to use it, hopefully soon! I also have an Inkle loom. I have only used it one time, but am looking forward to diving into that one also. I mostly weave scarves, but would like to do purses and bags. Must get better acquainted with the sewing machine. I am also an avid knitter.

Re: Introduce Yourself

Hi Thanks for joining. I really like the way ankle weaving can make patterns but haven't tried it yet, There's a great video on Youtube of a man Inkle weaving in the woods with a waist strap to keep the tension of the warp on a log.

Re: Introduce Yourself

Hello, I am a self taught weaver who adores weaving on floor looms and has owned many of them in the ever growing quest to find that "perfect" loom. Currently in my studio I am weaving on a 32' 8 shaft/10 treadle Gilmore jack loom - this is my go to loom when I need to get a warp on and off the loom quickly. We have woven many many miles of warps together.

My other loom was just purchased from a fellow weaver in Chicago. This loom is a Structo Artcraft wooden floor loom - yes Structo did make floor looms - although not many. The loom is 8 a shaft/10 treadle jack loom and is very rare - her first warp is going on as we speak.

In the past I have owned and woven on -

10 shaft/12 treadle Glimarkra Standard Countermarch looms
10 shaft/ 12 treadle Toika countermarch loom
8 shaft Schacht Standard jack loom
8 shaft Kessenich Jack loom
12 shaft/14 treadle LeClerc Colonial
8 shaft Loomcraft jack loom
8 shaft Norwood jack loom
several table looms -

All these looms have come and gone from my weaving studio over the last few years and yet I am always on the look out for a new to me loom to add to my herd of looms.

Nice to see a new group for hand weavers here on Etsy.

Re: Introduce Yourself

Hello! I've been weaving since I took a college class in 1978. For the most part, I weave utilitarian items. Sometimes, I let my artistic side shine through.

I have 2 Macomber looms. One 40" 8 harness and a 24" 8 harness Baby Mac. Both have 10 treadles.

Re: Introduce Yourself

Hi, my name is Laura Kirk.

I completed a Textile Design degree at Falmouth University in 2015, specialising in weave. Whilst my study involved me designing samples for industry, I would like to get more involved in product making. I'm also the proud owner of an 8-shaft Ashford table loom :)

Re: Introduce Yourself

Hi there!
I'm an outdoor instructor living in Scotland, I weave coasters on a 9x9cm rigid loom, and built a 2x2ft loom with a friend recently that I haven't tried out so far. It is kind of intimidating! I'm really excited to try different things with my loom as all I've done so far has been pretty tame, but loads of fun.

Re: Introduce Yourself

Hi All!
I started weaving almost 35 years ago. With breaks to raise children, work, and build a home. Finally retirement is almost a reality and my loom is getting more attention these days. I own a lovely 44" tools of the trade that is my darling. But I also have an old Weavers friend( not assembled at the moment). I have a 36" union loom in an upstate cottage that gets used hard when I am there. I also have a 15" mountian 4 harness at work that I try and spend lunch with.
I am a wool fanatic, I knit for relaxation because it is so portable.
I am embarrassed to say I once told my daughters friend that when I had 100 items I would open an Etsy store. Well I just opened my store last week, I am slow getting things listed because my computer skills aren't much. But I feel more confident each time I do list an item.
Anyway hello and let's all enjoy our weaving adventures.

Re: Introduce Yourself

Bonjour je me presente.

Hello I present myself. My companion and me (and our baby) let us travel throughout the world in search of meetings. And here a few years is with the textile with the weaving loom that we made a meeting. Already carried on ethnic Art and authenticates, we did not have since cease to give a place much more important to the works in natural pigments carried out with the weaving loom, on our stand of markets. Our shop ETSY, opened at November 1st, 2017, must enable us to still carry out other meetings, to exchange, to help, increase our horizons and to democratize this crafts so that it remains a means of subsistence for these people.
