Why Wont My Items Sell?

Hey, I was wondering if I could get some advice from fellow gamers. I am sort of new to etsy, I have had my shop for roughly a month now, and I don't have any sales. Its kind of disappointing to see the time and effort I put into my items waste :( I price my items well, I have decent photos (The lighting in my house isn't very good) but I upgrade my photos often. I plan on adding more items, but since its 20 cents per item, i feel like im losing money, because none of my items will sell :/ I even consider quitting etsy. If anyone has any hints/ tips on helping me sell please say so :)

Re: Why Wont My Items Sell?

Your stuff is cute but you only have 3 items. It would be nearly impossible to sell an item when there are a kazillion on etsy and you only have 3. Are you seriously afraid of spending 20 cents per listing??? If you have $5, that is 25 listings. I'm sure you can find $5 from somewhere.

Otherwise you basically have to find someone who either wants a Pokemon necklace or Zelda necklace AND picks yours out of thousands and thousands of others.

Sales are slow for me, too...but I refuse to give up hope. I'm hundreds of dollars in the hole on my business alone. I have 2 kids, a mortgage, bills, etc. Thankfully, I also have a very supportive partner by my side. I spend endless hours not only making my items, but also promoting on different websites and social networks. Every time someone favorites an item, let alone buys one, I am flattered. The reality is that it's a job, not just a hobby. This is a dream, not a get-rich-quick scheme. No one should ever give up on their dreams.

Good luck and keep hope!

It's 20 cents but that's for 4 months ... so in that end it's a great deal. You definitely need more items. When I made my first sale I had about 100-300 items. I'm not telling you that you need 100 items but you will need an assortment to choose from.

Do you have a deviantart? That's a great way to advertise. You can add your shop link to your deviantion's information.

I agree that you need more items for sure a lot of buyers pass by people who have less then a page in my experience. When I first started I did not sell for quite some time. Promotions are a big part of it you have to put a lot of time and effort into your art and your promotions. Make your items stand out from everyone else's. This may not be the route for you but along with rigorous promotion and treasuries I actually found trading with other shops helped me as well because it was a way of getting a few sales under my name and also feedback for customers to look at making them more likely to purchase. Like I said this is not something that works for everyone but it helped me.

Your strongest items are the Pokeball and the Majora's Mask in my opinion. I would suggest modeling or finding a model for your jewelry, the plain white background is not the greatest for your style, which is a bit rough around the edges. I would also work on the photo quality. Take pictures outside! And use the macro setting on your camera if you aren't already.
