I am wondering if any of you have a good basic/ballpark figure I should use for international shipping and shipping to Canada? RIght now my average price within USA runs anywhere from 5.60 to 8.70 Priority Mail thru USPS. Thanks :)
First off, do you use Etsy shipping? Reason I ask is because you can save a lot of money shipping thru etsy rather than going to USPS. My packages average 2oz. Domestic thru Etsy costs $2.49. Intl to Canada costs $7.50. Includes tracking and insurance.
I shipped to Canada once and it was a lot - though we sell pottery which is heavy. We brought ours to local UPS because I couldn't figure out the taxes out while I tried to do it online. I got so confused, but UPS ended up shipping it so the buyer had to pay extra charges when it is delivered. I'm hesitant to try it again until I have it all figured out. Emma, I'll check out international shipping through Etsy. Thanks.
Jay, shipping through Etsy is truly the easiest way to go. I save so much time using Etsy shipping...the name, address etc populate so all I have to fill in is weight and insurance value. A few clicks of the mouse and I have my label all paid for. You do need a little more info for intl but it's self explanatory. I would recommend switching if you don't already use it.
Emma, so is that the area on receipt that say something like print a shipping label? Right now I use Priority shipping and my items are very light, canvas, and I average about 5.80 a box.....who is the shipping thru with etsy? USPS?
Yes "print shipping label" carrier is USPS. If you want to test it out, you input your data and run the numbers then back out if you don't want to proceed with Etsy shipping.
I was on mat leave for awhile and just reopened my shop and I was just so shocked at the new prices. Is it cheaper on Etsy because of the bulk pricing?
You get the commercial shipping rate on Etsy. Big savings, especially if you ship a lot. Plus it saves tons of time...I can ship daily without leaving the studio.
