Team Chat for February

Well, my team lost the Super Bowl, and it wasn't just the team I was rooting for but our local boys we know and love. So sad for them.

And so a new month has begun -
Isobel was the last to check in with this:

Isobel Morrell from COLDHAMCUDDLIES says

Running late today, because I was out to lunch and not back till mid-afternoon. Been catching up ever since, and it's high time I went for some shut eye.

Hope everyone is well and has a good week.

Re: Team Chat for February

Just checking in while I'm away from base for a few days - staying with elder daughter in Buckinghamshire, and not that far from London - not that I go there for preference, unless for a really specific reason. Just too many people around, and most of them are foreigners!

Very cold outside at the moment, so we're tending to stay indoors for preference, although we went for a walk into Town to do some administrative chores - like posting stuff for Philippa's business, and mine! - and then we've both spent the afternoon doing what we needed to do for our respective businesses. She's a First Aid Instructor - and a contractor doing other bits and pieces - and for once had some stuff to pay in- and so on.

Am looking for a new source for my stuffing - still have a stash I brought with me from Wiltshire when I moved in August last year, but it's time I began to look for another one as the stash is rapidly depleting. (Nice problem to have, I do admit!). Sourced one possibility, but when Philippa and I turned up on the doorstep of the shop, the proprietor was out for Friday Prayers at the local mosque! So, intend to try again tomorrow.

Hope to blog again on Sunday - some updates and photos with stories to tell, so until then, I'll sign off.

I have some Corgi Rockets parts I hope to identify (maybe you teammates in the UK can help me out!) as well as some other vintage toy memories to share, if you want to check out the blog, where I show the photos:

In a bit of a rush - but just to tell you that the latest bulleting from the Cuddlies can be found here

http://coldhamcuddliescalling.blogspot.co.uk/2015/02/patience-pays-off-little-ed-ted-finds.html

Sorry I can't help, Victoria - have never been that much of a Corgi fan - unless, of course, it's of the canine variety. Good luck with your research though.

Re: Team Chat for February

Neat post, Victoria. I would suggest that you look up Ewan's contact and send him a convo, I bet he would be able to help you.

The rest of my life is absolutely sucking Etsy time dry. I managed to list 12 items total in the two shops in the last three months. but I keep selling here and there, so I am staying connected... sorta.

Miss the chat, but i think eveyone's life changed way too much.

Re: Team Chat for February

Now, don't you disappear on us Judi! You're a lynch pin for this Team! You'd miss us if you went for good, as we would miss you!

Do know what you mean about not having the time to properly do Etsy though. Have got so many replacements to make for Cuddlies that have recently found Adoptive Homes, not to mention all the new ones I'd like to make with patterns I've been collecting recently! All the teams and other social media do take a helluva lot of time that I'd really be better spending time sewing - but I do like to keep in touch with you guys as well as meet new folk. Collecting people is becoming quite a hobby of mine!!

Having a lovely time with daughter near London. Weather was a beautiful Spring day today and we had a great walk into town and I managed to get my extra polyester fibre from the shop I couldn't get into last Friday - as mentioned in the blog I posted yesterday. Price was competitive too - and I think I have an address to contact and see if the producers have an outlet near me in Nottinghamshire where I return on Wednesday. Gosh the time has simply flown.

See you all around sometime soon. Where have you got to Vanessa, I wonder?

Re: Team Chat for February

Just spent the day in the company of a couple of charming young men who have been attending to the floors in my kitchen/pantry and bathroom. They only left at 2030 GMT this evening, but fortunately have put the flat almost where it was when they arrived this morning. I've been rooted to my chair the only space where fridge, furniture etc, could be moved to while the work was done - and while it's nice to have the work done at last (it was promised when I moved in last August!) I could have done without it this week!!!

However, it did mean I could finally do my belated blog - here it is

http://coldhamcuddliescalling.blogspot.co.uk/2015/02/production-of-hairy-bears-in-progress_17.html

Got to do some more stuff on the computer - because I've also had to be out at daughter, Clare's place - since she kindly fed me today while I could get into the kitchen!! It will be good to return to almost normal tomorrow - except for the Ash Wednesday Mass at mid-day, which means a trip into Nottingham for the service!

Hope to see you all here soon.

Re: Team Chat for February

Still feeling the sore throat and no voice.

Isobel, your new bear is quite hairy!!

Working in the shop today. I did get asked, officially, last week to take over the management of the flagship store for our little non-profit co-op. I think my start date is the beginning of April, but things are ramping up already.

Need to shower and go for today, hope you all are doing GREAT!

Re: Team Chat for February

Congrats on the new appointment, Judi! You're a beggar for punishment, though expect being in charge could mean more funds coming in, as well as possibly a little bit more time for yourself (while the "minions" do some of the rest of the work?)

The Bears are not called Hairy for nothing 1

Managed to get things back into the right place after the floor-laying earlier in the week. Nice guys though they were, do wish men would remember from whence they take things when they're putting them back after they need to leave the place spic and span!!! Took me two hours this morning to find and replace all my spices and herbs - not that I do that much cooking these days, but it's nice to know where they are when I do feel like doing so!!! Still it was an opportunity to re-arrange things that I haven't done since I moved in - because, frankly, I couldn't be bothered to do so!! Now it should be easier - until I, too, forget to put things back from whence I took them!! I claim "senior moments" though when that happens.

The new Categories on Etsy are causing consternation in the courtyard in my other Teams! The one thing I've found though is that I've finally realised what they heck they mean!! I've concentrated on Colour and Fabric when listing my Cuddlies to date: it's taken me 4 years to understand exactly what is meant by Categories, and how they might JUST be a bit more relevant to a Buyer than my chosen (easier, admittedly!) options! However, you all know that I can be somewhat slow on the uptake!!

Hope the students are all working well and enjoying their respective berths. We're still waiting for an adoption match, although Clare told me yesterday they were within a whisker of being matched with a little boy. Alas, at the final moment it was decided that the siblings involved all lived or worked in the same Town we actually live in - and that could have led to all sorts of complications down the road. You're telling me - but it's a disappointment for Clare and Alan - however much they agreed with the decision that was taken on their behalf by their Social Worker. You'd of thought that that problem would have been identified a whole lot earlier in the process though, wouldn't you?

Must away to make an evening meal, prior to finishing Bear No 11 - so the Beauty Parade can take place and hopefully the chosen one can be en route at the week-end. It's going slo-mo at the request of the customer - so might just make it for Easter.

Re: Team Chat for February

Good to see you again Vanessa! Look forward to hearing how the house is going and hope the family issues are not too overwhelming.

Not such a long post this time around - unsurprising, since it's the second in a week:

http://coldhamcuddliescalling.blogspot.co.uk/

The latest bulletin from Coldham Cuddlies has just been published.

Awful weather today, but managed to get back by 'bus from Nottingham after Mass before it really set in. Today is Clare and Alan's 12th Wedding Aniversary, and although they took me into Nottingham, they had a special lunch booked for themselves at a posh restaurant. Now it's not a problem for me to get the 'bus either way, so after we'd all gathered for coffee after the service, we wended our separate ways. It was beginning to sleet as I got off the 'bus, and by the time I'd walked the - possibly 500 yards - to my front door, it was beginning to chuck it down. Not stopped all afternoon, but think it may be easing off now. Just hope the cloud sticks around, otherwise it will be somewhat dangerously slippery in the morning.

Re: Team Chat for February

Isobel, darn! Even you are getting winter weather!
Spring seems to have sprung here - Robins are here, and the trees are budding. Just about time for a freeze, right?

Vanessa, I agree with Isobel, we need pics of the new house!

Re: Team Chat for February

Vanessa - inside and out, weather permtting of course.

Everyone seems to be having a bad weather problem at the moment. It seems to be going backwards here in the UK. Beautifully warm till Christmas: then it went progressively colder. Seemed to warm up for a day or two, and now it's getting colder by the day. Heigh ho - the first day of Spring isn't far away. Can't come quickly enough for me.

It's definitely colder up where I'm now living than when I was in Wiltshire! But then, it is that much nearer the North Pole, too. Waiting for buses, even though there are more of them up here is definitely not for the faint-hearted.

Evening meal time approaches. Hope everyone is well.

Spock has finally died. Too bad there is no real planet Genesis to cause him to be reborn. He was a great man.

Re: Team Chat for February

Sorry to hear about your Grandpa, Vanessa - may he rest in peace. He's in a definitely better place though, where it's sunny all the time, and one doesn't have to put up with endless snow, rain, sleet and winds! This winter seems to be endless this year, or maybe it's because I'm maturing too fast!

Just managed to post today's bulletin on the blog - a slight preview of what some new Cuddlies could look like - once I've all the bits and pieces cut out.

http://coldhamcuddliescalling.blogspot.co.uk/

Must away and get my evening meal, as well as publicise the blog, so hope everyone is having a good day.

I can think of other things I'd like to have in my house than a piranha, Vanessa! But fair enough, at least it can't do you any damage in its current state. Presume its going to be part of the new home decor, rather than be listed here on Etsy?

March has definitely come in like a lion: let's hope the lamb is not too far away. Meanwhile, here's wishing everyone a good week - and better weather ahead.

Happy painting, Vanessa. We want before and after pics, please! Daughter Clare has been busy in her new home and has the hallways, dining room and the nursery done. Please keep prayers going on the eventual occupant of the last named room - there just might be a glimmer of hope on the horizon.

As for Spock - think I'm one of the ONLY beings in the world to have NEVER watched an episode of that series. Space, etc. is just not my thing - but I had heard of Spock/Leonard Nemoy: would have had to be been underground not to have done! May he rest in peace too - he provided a lot of people with a lot of pleasure.
