Need Pricing Help With a Pattern

Hello everyone! I came across a late 1800s Butterick pattern for making stockings at an estate sale the other weekend, but I can not find anything comparable on the internet in order to price this pattern.

It's unprinted of course, has some very brief directions, and says to make the stockings from silk. It is a size 8 1/2, which I assume is a stocking size.

I don't have it up on Etsy yet, but there is a picture of it on Flickr.

I have absolutely no idea how much to charge, or what someone would pay for this pattern. Any help or advice would be greatly appreciated.

I have nothing very helpful to add but that's a really neat pattern!

I'm not sure how to price it either.... but its an awesome pattern...... I'd say start high.... you can always go down! I just sold a Hollywood pattern that had had tons of "favorites" that I thought would never sell.... sometimes I think its good to have something in your shop that gets a lot of looks.... just because its unusual.... it does bring in people to look..... and, it finally sold! I had lowered the price several months ago.....

Wow! Amazing find! I need to start going to estate sales. I agree with Cloe though - start high. Sorry, I wish I could be of more help.

Re: Need Pricing Help With a Pattern

My question is hopefully a little easier, I have an Anne Klein Spadea Pattern for a Chanel type suit...
I listed it but I'm unsure of the pricing

Rebecca, your pattern is amazing and I've never seen the like in all my years of collecting. If i had it in my shop, I would start at about $125. Antique accessory patterns almost always go high (hats, gloves) but some of that demand is also in the fact that a lot of people want to sew these things. I'm not sure how many will want to sew their own stockings, but there's a collector out there who will be interested, I'm sure. When you get it posted to your shop, drop me a note and I'll blog about it on A Few Threads Loose to try and drum up some interest for you.

Mary Beth, your pattern is lovely. It does look very Chanel. Most Spadea patterns that I've seen sold for that amount are usually unusual evening gowns or cocktail dresses. Suits aren't as well sought after (though they should be :) ) You might have started a bit high but that doesn't hurt. You can always reduce the price if it doesn't get much interest.
Hope it helps!
