Help With Vintage Pattern Wiki

So I've been reading past posts on adding patterns to the Vintage Pattern Wiki and I decided to give it a try. I figured out how to add a link to an existing page so I'm good there. I read Mrs. Depew's tutorial on adding a new page and I'm extremely challenged. It seems once I add a picture I lose all my editing capabilities for some reason...or else they're still there and I don't know it.

I add the title, it brings me to the section where I add a picture and I can do that. There's a little box underneath where I thought I should put the description but it comes out as a long, narrow column of text that doesn't look like other successful entries so I try to remove it. After that things go downhill fast and I end up not being able to edit anything or continue on.

I would appreciate any help you can offer as I have patterns that are not listed and I'd like to add them to the mix!

Thanks!

Re: Help With Vintage Pattern Wiki

Once your picture is uploaded, don't add anything in the box titled "description." Click "Add Photo" and wait for the page to load.
Once loaded, click on the right side of the photo and hit "enter" to give yourself room to add your description. Near the top of the page will be the type of text you will use; click "normal text" or you will be in "heading" mode. Add your description.
Add your listing shortcut within brackets, [ ], and then add your shop name after.
Add categories, such as Vintage Sewing Pattern, ruffles, etc.
Then publish.
Wiki isn't the easiest thing to use but it is free and gets lots of views. And it's free. Oh, I said that….lol
Good Luck!

I'm a little lost on this Wiki place - what exactly is it for? Information only? For people to advertise patterns for sale? I don't seem to see much but people's pictures of patterns. It does have a ton of them, and they're categorized well, but what else am I to take from this place - I must state that I am very unfamiliar with Wiki pages in general and their use. I've only wanted to know when I saw the pattern wiki! YUM...

Re: Help With Vintage Pattern Wiki

Hi I recently added a couple of pages to the Wiki and not very successfully. However, a lady named Tarna edited and corrected my pages an hour later which was great.

So, don't worry to much if you don't get it right the first time around. Usually someone will drop by and edit pages that need editing ;)
