Also, there is a "Finding Used and Rare Books and Their Prices" pathfinder under Elsewhere of this team. Maybe some of the resources there might help you locate them.

See if you have the exact year/s so we can perform a search....^^

Is this the same as your copy? It recently sold on eBay for $15.

Re: vintage book? need some help

I have a similar question. I have an 1878 Through the Looking Glass Listed. When I found it I did the research I could and found a very similar copy that had sold somewhere and used that price. If anyone can help me with any other info I'd be so grateful. There are over 45 pages with the famous original Alice illustrations so the illustrated pages would sell individually. But I'm just not ready to take it apart.

Re: vintage book? need some help

Please don't take it apart. It would be a shame to dismantle such a good copy. I would buy it myself if I weren't low on funds.

Re: vintage book? need some help

I love old books! I wish I had some info on the books above, but I'm here for the same reason.

I just purchased this amazing book at an estate sale. It's called, the nutcracker and the mouse king. It's printed in German and has these amazing illustrations. The book itself is not dated, but one of the illustrations says 1953. I've researched it on the web, but come up with nothing! One thing I do know is......it's the story where the ballet, the nutcracker comes from.

any info would be appreciated.

Re: vintage book? need some help

That does sound like an interesting book. Have you tried bookfinder.com? What's the exact German title?

Re: vintage book? need some help

Hi All:
New to the team and love it.

I find sometimes researching the publisher helps me to get an accurate date on a book or book series.

For eg. I was able to date my LOTR collection by researching the publisher Houghton Mifflin.

It was difficult to info on the green boxed set because there are not too many around anymore.
By researching the publisher I was able to get release date, why the original box color was changed, and that the green versions were a small limited run.

Hope this helps!

Re: vintage book? need some help

Welcome to the the team Alex!

Great tip! I have had this same experience. For old, rare books, it is often very helpful to know something about the history of the publishing company to realize where your book fits.

Some very interesting books listed above also!^^
