My husband and I have been lovers and sellers of vintage and antique books for a long time.
Many years ago we bought and sold a book called "Peter Poodle Toy Maker to the King" by Will Bradley, published in 1906 by Dodd, Mead & Company, New York. We bought it for next to nothing and sold it for $150+. We were very excited to say the least. Even before shipping it, we scanned all of the illustrations. They're very Maxfield Parrish-like. Anyways, we thought, "well, we'll find another one to keep for ourselves" That was over nine years ago!!! What we learned is that this book runs approximately $1000-$1500. Who knew?
Now the good news...
Right before Christmas, my husband found not only one but TWO of these books, and at an amazing price. We kept the best one for ourselves and we'll be selling the other one to cover the cost of both... and hopefully make a profit!
If you ever have a chance check this book out... it really is wonderful.
