Google Analytics, anyone?

Has anyone tried using Google Analytics to monitor your shop's activity? I read an Etsy blog about it the other day and I'm really curious to see what the data reveal. For instance, has anyone found me through the new "Taste Test" feature? Is relisting as effective as I really think it is?

What are your thoughts? Do you think Google Analytics is worth using?

Re: Google Analytics, anyone?

I set up an account but haven't done much with it. I should go back and look at my data -- the last time I tried messing around with it I accidentally wiped out all my old data; maybe now I have a decent accumulation to look at again.

Also -- I don't know about "taste test"! Off to see what that's all about!

Here's the blog entry, if you're interested in reading it:

And this is the blog about the new "Taste Test."

It's a new feature designed for first-time visitors to Etsy. Kind of cool, actually.

Re: Google Analytics, anyone?

This is the final verdict: Google Analytics is freakin' sweet! I was able to view my first report today and I learned a few interesting things.

1) I actually had a referral from this site apartmenttherapy.com.

2) 3 people found me through Google, including, I suspect, the person that purchased my vintage 1950s baby book.

3) Most of the my recent hits came from within the United States.

4) And finally, people really do read your feedback.

My next little experiment is to post/relist a few items and see what kind of activity that generates.

Re: Google Analytics, anyone?

I went back and checked mine and it was totally "fubared," so I set up another account and will have to wait and see what happens...

Thanks for the links!

Re: Google Analytics, anyone?

I like analytics and have used it since my shop opened. I like to see what is bringing people to my shop.

Re: Google Analytics, anyone?

I have yet to try Google Analytics, but will work on finding the time to look at it. Thanks for the advice. Re Taste Test, I have not seen one book in the test. Has anyone?

Re: Google Analytics, anyone?

Good point Shadowmark. I haven't seen any books, either. There seems to be a VERY small pool of items in the taste test.

Re: Google Analytics, anyone?

Also, the analytics thing I set up last week is not working. I'm suspecting operator error. :^)
