Etsy or ebay

My books are getting little or no views. I've worked on tags and titles etc.
My question is does anyone sell on etsy AND ebay?
How does ebay compare? I Starting thinking, and wouldn't you think most people would actually go to ebay over etsy to look for a book?

Re: Etsy or ebay

I have never had luck with books on ebay. I only sell stuff there that demands a bit of competition to get a decent price. And I don't handle those sales myself any more, I leave that to someone who can devote the time that I can't.

Re: Etsy or ebay

My husband says people go to ebay for "cheap" They want the lowest price, which they consider the best deal.

I don't know about that, because I've never even shopped on ebay.

I do know that I price my books based on their value...not the lowest price. This week I sold a vintage book for $45. Nice sale. Great old book. I know the new owner will love having that book on their shelf.

And, I know I don't have the time to manage one more place. So I'll stay here on etsy. Yeah, I'm basically lazy this week.

Re: Etsy or ebay

I was on e-bay for a couple of years before I joined etsy - the one thing that never sold was books - Noel is right people go for cheap - watch the auctions, etc.

It is hard sometimes to price our books and this is something that I truly believe if we were to come together as a team we could really help each other out.

Re: Etsy or ebay

I agree. Etsy is best for vintage books. We are doing what we do best: information sharing. With our resources and tools in our "Elsewhere" (side) links and on our Book Seller's Discussion Thread, I believe new book sellers find VBTEAM to be an excellent online resource. Bee is right, for I think with the right amount of time and team collaboration, we can create a streamlined approach. Since we are limited by the Etsy Team Board parameters, we will have to utilize Web 2.0 technologies. We already use Pinterest to share each others' items, but for user-generated book sellers' tools and resources, a Blog or Google Site would probably work best.
