Do you erase?

Do you erase marks in vintage books you sell, or leave them as is?

I have used the eraser a few times, in kid's books where the name was written in pencil. Other times I'm not sure if I should or not, especially if the book is older. What do you all do?

Re: Do you erase?

I do not erase previous owner's names, address, etc.
The only thing that I erase are prices from previous sellers (think garage sale or thrift store) Usually those are written in pencil lightly and erase easily. If the paper is colored and will show an eraser mark of light/white where the color has been removed, I leave the pencil marks.

I guess you could say my policy is, each book is a judgement call as to whether I will do more harm than good.

Re: Do you erase?

I'm the same, the only thing I rub out are prices, everything else stays.

Re: Do you erase?

My policy is very much like Noel's.

Re: Do you erase?

I agree with Noel. I only rub out prices, and only if it won't damage the book.

Re: Do you erase?

I leave everything so I don't compromise the integrity of the book.

Re: Do you erase?

Just the prices, and with a really good white eraser.
