What is the strangest item that you have ever upcycled?

A couple of years ago I "rescued" some damaged furniture from a house fire. I have used everything and my favorite project was creating my headboard from burned armoire doors. You can check them out at http://craftygeordi.blogspot.com/2011/06/my-grown-up-princess-bed.html.

Headboard looks great, so rustic yet relaxing with the white sheers, I love it.

As for my strange upcycles, I repurpose vintage suitcases into chairs and ottomans... here is an example

Haven't sold any yet (just opened shop last month), but I have a lot of fun upcycling and repurposing :)

Can't remember- I'm sure it seemed logical/normal to me at the time! I'll upcycle anything made of cloth- for costumes, my etsy shop or my home! I'm always collecting things until I know just what to do with them.

Checked out your headboard, very neat! And my husband thinks I am the only crazy woman collecting "trash"...

We have reused quite a few rescued pieces from an old house in the remodel of our home. We used old 4 panel solid doors as wainscotting in the basement, which turned out awesome. My husband also reused the gingerbread porch trim to make some great shelves for myself and my mom. He has made a cookie cutter display from an old victrola lid. Basically, I collect, and he makes. I love it!
