To those who upcycle using wood.

I was wondering where everyone gets their wood supply from? I have very limited amts of different wood and I would like add variety for my customers. Could you share ideas as to where to look? Thank you!

Re: To those who upcycle using wood.

Just saw your post,
look for free pallets or really cheap ones. how about old fencing? I use my old picket fence that is falling down. look where ever someone is offering firewood. Of course I don't know your location, but those are just some suggestions.

Good point about the pallets!

I don't think I use as much wood as you do, Magdaly, but I have been able to get free/cheap wood from signs that businesses are getting rid of. I also got some wood from old boat lifts/docks that are beyond repair but still have usable wood...

Thank you very much. I have found a few pallets and fencing. Also got in touch with a friend who in construction and gets called to salvage old homes. I guess I'm headed in the right direction. ;)

Re: To those who upcycle using wood.

Find neighborhoods that are wealthier and who throw stuff to the trash & find out their trash day. We have made some incredible, amazing finds driving those neighborhoods the night before trash pickup and scoping out what they're tossing out. Some people will throw out *anything*!

Old dressers, night stands, headboards, even some covered furniture has some good wood underneath.

Re: To those who upcycle using wood.

Craigslist.org... Look under the "materials" category for contractor/builder supplies/materials. There are also lots of great listing for all types of wood (from firewood to lumber) under my favorite category: "free." "Furniture" is also a good category... Oh, heck, just type "WOOD" in the search box, hit enter and you're bound to strike gold!

Good luck!
