Upcyclers Monthly CREATIVITY Challenge:

Each month a selected shop (Judge) will choose a common upcycled medium, like a tin can, an old magazine, etc), and participants respond with photographed ideas of what they upcycled that medium into!

How to Enter:

On this discussion thread please leave a link of your upcycled entry.
Entries must come with a photo of your idea. A description or your thoughts are welcome, but your idea and shop will be share by the PHOTO LINK that you submit as an entry.
To post the photo a link onto Etsy’s discussion boards, you can do this a number of ways:
Upload the photo to a social media network... twitter, facebook, flickr, an Etsy listing, etc. Then paste the link into your entry comment.
You can also upload your photo entry on your own blog or website, and then paste the link into your entry comment on the thread.

If you need help with creating a photo link, please contact myself, or the monthly Creative Challenge Judge.

Monthly Challenges will be posted the first day of each month, and final entries should be submitted by the 24th of each month!

Entries will be included in the creativity challenge’s monthly blog post (published the first week of the month) and on our team’s social networks. This is a great way to share the upcycled love and promote your shop.

Challenge Checklist for Participants:
1. use the monthly medium to create something new
2. photograph the created idea
2. post a link to your photo on the monthly thread for an entry BY the 24th of each month
3. ALL submitted entries will be posted to our pinterest boards, and other in SM: pinterest.com/upcyclers/

Re: September Upcyclers Creativity Challenge!!!

Ok, finally got my blog post up. I entered two upcycled giveaways this month and wanted to include them together in a post on our blog.

I used tshirt hems (from making tshirt scarves) to make a headband and bangle. Nice and simple, but I have been wearing them!!!

Thanks! Looking forward to seeing more entries! :)

Re: September Upcyclers Creativity Challenge!!!

You should Sarah! :) Thanks. And because the shirt is used, it is comfortable. I have a hard time finding headbands that don't give me a headache. This ties underneath my hair and I forget I have it on. I think I might make more in different colors. Might become my new fall fashion statement. lol In the studio it helps keep my hair out of my face too. :)

Re: September Upcyclers Creativity Challenge!!!

Wow....you are all awesome! I am so behind this month. I had sooo many ideas for this month's challenge, but have only tried one so far and it failed. : ( I will have to post it to FB anyway. (I was trying to make bleach water designs on an old, long sleeved plain Tee).

Oh well....off to the next hopefully this weekend. Love seeing all the cool entries!!

Re: September Upcyclers Creativity Challenge!!!

I am very excited to have found y'all! New to Etsy but not upcycling. I upcycled my 1st Woolrich men's wool shirt to a bag and donating it for a silent auction tomorrow. I'm a firm believer that things happen for a reason and I just got thrown into it!

Weeeeeeee!!!

Re: September Upcyclers Creativity Challenge!!!

Bee, I love the headbands!! I have hundreds of t shirt hems, and also need a headband that doesn't give me a headache. I am going to be trying this out! The bracelet is also fabulous! I am loving those decorative fabric balls too. What a great idea!!

Country, I love the pillow. My boyfriend loves his t shirts, and wears them to the point of no return. They are literally disintegrating, and he still wears them to sleep in! I should post a picture of the worst one. lol But I convinced him to let me make pillows out of them. I can't really cut and sew the t shirts themselves, but I am hoping some of that iron on fabric webbing will secure it to another t shirt that is in sturdier condition. Then he can have his favorite t shirts, and I am not washing rags. ha!

Montana, that hat is darling! And I see that it sold!!! Yay sales!! I can see why too! I would have bought something like that for my son when he was a baby.

Melani, that necklace is fabulous! So original. I love that!!

Mike, I have been enjoying this month's entries too! I have a favorite or ten already. It is going to be difficult to narrow this down!!

Re: September Upcyclers Creativity Challenge!!!

Luci....You need to capture your boyfriend's t-shirts before they are totally a rag and make into a pillow so he can still have them to last another generation. It can make for a soft pillow for his head. lol I used light weight iron-on interfacing to stabilize the backside of the t-shirt, before I cut the section I was going to use so it would keep it's shape

Try it and let me know if you have any questions ~Patrice
