This is the 3rd Month of our new Creativity Challenge, please join in!!!

Each month a selected shop (Judge) will choose a common upcycled medium, like a tin can, an old magazine, etc, and participants respond with photographed ideas of what they upcycled that medium into!

How to Enter:
On this discussion thread please leave a link of your upcycled entry.
Entries must come with a photo of your idea. A description or your thoughts are welcome, but your idea and shop will be share by the PHOTO LINK that you submit as an entry.
To post the photo a link onto Etsy’s discussion boards, you can do this a number of ways:
Upload the photo to a social media network... twitter, facebook, flickr, etc. Then paste the link into your entry comment.
You can also upload your photo entry on your own blog or website, and then paste the link into your entry comment on the thread.
OR you can create an Etsy listing to share and enter that way as well.
If you need help with creating a photo link, please contact myself, or the monthly Creative Challenge Judge.

Monthly Challenge Mediums will be posted the first day of each month, and final entries should be submitted by the 24th of each month!

ALL ENTRIES will be included in the creativity challenge’s monthly blog post (published the first week of the following month) and on our team’s social networks. This is a great way to share the upcycled love, get creative, and promote your shop.

Challenge Checklist for Participants:
1. use the monthly medium to create something new
2. photograph the created idea
2. post a link to your photo on the monthly thread for an entry BY the 24th of each month
3. ALL submitted entries will be posted to our pinterest boards, and in other SM: pinterest.com/upcyclers/
4. ALL entry links will be featured in our monthly blog post, with some highlighted entry photos included as well.

Who’s the Challenge Winner?
We are all winners in this challenge! If you submit an upcycled idea entry for the month, then you are a winner, because all shops and their entries will be featured on our Social Networks and in our blog.

Show your creativeness in this team challenge!

Re: July Creativity Challenge

Oh my....I haven't even made it to the basement yet to look for materials! This month has just flown by and lots of distractions and obligations.

I hope I can find and come up with something.....sometimes those last minute creations are the ones that turn out the best - you never know! : )

Re: July Creativity Challenge

Well that would be tomorrow already. Wow! Where has this month gone?

How about we extend it to the 27th of July?! Nikki? Hope that's okay. I will get it out on the blog quick the first month, but let's extend the entry deadline to this Friday!

Thanks, Bee

Re: July Creativity Challenge

I think that's a great idea, otherwise we might have a winner by default. I'm going camping this weekend and I don't think have access to internet from friday am to sunday evening, but I'll check in if I can. I need to get out in my garage and get my pipe cut apart today. Where has this month gone. I'm sure I don't know.

Re: July Creativity Challenge

I don't have an old drain pipe, but still keeping my eyes open for any opportunity that presents itself.

I just wanted to say how much I like these challenges. Even if I don't happen to make an entry this month, I have new ideas flowing through my mind. Also, I had a customer contact me regarding my mini plant hanger I made for the last challenge. Besides, combining my crafting with my passion for upcycling/recycling makes me Happy :)

Re: July Creativity Challenge

Bee, your candle holders are gorgeous!! I love the look of them!

I'm glad to see the extension of time!! This gives me a little more time to get my entry finished (which I have actually not even started).

This is something I would have done with the down spout if I had the time. I would have used it in sections to hold my glass rods for bead making.

Re: July Creativity Challenge

So, I got as far as finding the downspout in the basement when I got back from my trip....yay! Major part checked!

I unscrewed it from the long part and washed it off, trying not to cut myself as I am so prone to doing on anything that is even remotely sharp.

Wondered if I had anything to cut it with....aren't they called "tin snips"?

Then I sat and looked at it for about 5 minutes.

....to be continued. (I hope) : )

Re: July Creativity Challenge

I finally got started on my project tonight, so hopefully I will have it done by Friday!! My boyfriend taught me how to use a bandsaw to cut my pipe, which was surprisingly easy - I had never used one before.

Re: July Creativity Challenge

Sarah...you are brave. I love the idea of running machinery - I grew up around a father and brothers who did that sort of stuff all the time, but I am so accident prone that I am afraid of losing a finger!

My metal parts are still sitting on the counter taunting me. I haven't had much time and I just can't figure out how to do what I had planned do with them...I am having "upcycler's block". : )

Well I am off to go camping to think hard over the next couple of days... I know Bee said deadline tomorrow, but really I am not checking in again until Sunday night (camping in the eastern Sierras) so I won't tell if you are a bit late.

Re: July Creativity Challenge

Marcy - "upcycler's block" - hahaha! It happens to the best of us!

Nicole - your coasters look great! What are they made out of?

I've been working on my entry - planning to finish it tonight! It's not turning out exactly as I had originally envisioned, so we'll see what happens as I finish it off!

Re: July Creativity Challenge

Sarah that's awesome! We just got a bandsaw. I haven't turned it on or tried it out yet. Hoping to soon though! :) Looking forward to pictures of your creation.

Have fun Nikki - we will take entries until you get back on Sunday. ;)

Nicole, this is the thread for Upcyclers Creativity Entries, you must state the material of your coasters for them to be included in the challenge.

Happy Friday everyone.
