How do you UPcycle and recycle?

I try to use UPcycled elements with any piece of jewelry I create. I have a multitude of beads and chains that were my great grandmothers that I inherited when she passed along; I find things and pieces I need in jewelry and will use one little part and save the rest for later when I need it. I limit my supplies box to a leather luggage case that is 12"X16"X12". When I go to thrift shops, I might see something I need a piece off of, or want to use, it's awesome to spend .10 on something that might be wasting space in a landfill, and then using it to beautify and better the universe. I mostly work with bicycle inner tube. Most bike stores where I'm from just throw used ones away.

I made these with old scrabble tiles decoupaged with catalog cutouts, and reclaimed plastic pearls from an old decorative candle, and giveaway magnets.

Well, I save everything to use later. I sit on them and stew about them and then figure out how I'm going to utilize them....and then one day 'light bulb'! and I come up with things like this!!!

Almost everything in my stash has been rescued from being thrown away. I let all the watch parts, broken necklaces and earrings tell whisper their stories to me as the come together and make something new.

I love making pillow covers out of things I find at the thrift shop. I've used shirts, skirts, tableclothes, formal gowns and scraps of fabric. These two are both made from damask napkins.
