Discussion Threads

Jump to solution
We wholeheartedly encourage new discussion topics on our forum and are so excited to see so many participating! However, to keep our threads less confusing and not to crowd out other topics with repeat threads, please take time to see if your topic has been posted already. If so, please reply to the original thread in order to continue the discussion. If your topic is nowhere to be found, then please feel free to start a new thread!

Okay! Just had to be the bad guy (or should I say the wicked (b)witch! Please help me out and look for ways we can minimize duplicate threads! Look for a thread topic that is closely related to yours and keep it going! Otherwise we are going to have hundreds of pages of dead threads that makes it hard on members to find the topic they are looking for. Until the powers that be make it possible to merge or condense our team threads, we will have to do it ourselves! Help us, help you keep it organized!

Any chance we could have an ongoing thread - like maybe a monthly one that is general chit chat and comments - I wonder would this help for many of us that just want to pipe in and say hello from time to time or maybe mention projects we are working on and so on........

Just a polite reminder, Upcyclers! We're getting cluttered with repeat threads- please remember to look for your topic before starting a new thread! We will bury important updates and discussions if we inundate the forum with redundant threads.
Thank you for your cooperation and understanding!

a month might be a bit long, a week seems to work in my other team. Even then you have to remember what page you were on last, everytime, but I agree about a general chatty thread would be nice, I never know where to post...... without burying the important stuff.

I know it gets very confusing to folks. I just added some new information to the Success on etsy thread. I dont know if others will see it. There is a general Chit chat thread. I have noticed several threads that were already in other discussions. Hopefully others will read all discussion topics to see if there is a thread they can add to.

With the new changes for forums from Etsy, I think it will be even more important for us to keep ours as efficient as possible by not having duplicate or redundant threads. Please help by looking for your topic before posting a new one! This will minimalize clutter and make it easier to find what you are looking for! Thank you!

This seems a good place to ask this question. I don't suppose the team discussions can have "sticky" topics like some systems do; it might avoid some duplication by keeping certain ones at the top, like the one about the team tag for Treasuries. You could have another sticky one for the HTML to put the team logo on blog, Facebook etc. as well as even in the short time I've been here I've noticed it gets asked quite often.

Re: Discussion Threads

There isn't a function for that and no way for me to edit, only close topics. That's one thing I've had a hard time with, and unfortunately I have had to close duplicate threads for treasuries in hopes that people will understand. I have thought about closing all but one thread for the different social networks, but so far haven't. I hate doing it because I don't want to offend anyone, but our threads could become like the ones on Etsy: pages and pages and so hard to find the one you want! I will say it here once more:

PLEASE LOOK FOR YOUR TOPIC ON AN EXISTING THREAD BEFORE STARTING A NEW ONE! THERE ARE THREADS ABOUT MANY SUBJECTS ALREADY STARTED!

Thanks, Everyone!

That's a pity, I imagine it's been asked for. Some discussion fora have the means for the administrator to swoosh duplicate discussions into another, another feature that might be helpful and would avoid deleting.

One of my least favorite tasks is monitoring the Discussions! I ask that members please check for their topic before starting a new one, so that I do not have to close any threads- it's fantastic to see all of you support and participate here, but we have no means of keeping our threads organized other than encouraging all of you to continue existing threads and not start duplicate topics. Hopefully, Etsy will give us a tool to do that but until then we hope you understand that if we close your thread it's only to help keep our threads organized.

We realize that sometimes it's difficult and time consuming to look through the threads for a topic similar to what you want to post, but we have no way of organizing them except that. Please look for your topic and keep old threads alive, Upcycle and reduce wasted threads! Believe me, your topic is probably there somewhere, lol!
