Hello, I thought I might start this group to see if there are any other spinners living in London so we could all have a good chat and discuss ways to promote ourselves.
I've been spinning for around 4 years and I am completely hooked! I flit between London ( Greenwich ) and Suffolk spinning up yarns on my Ashford Joy and using fibres from my next door neighbour's pet flock (in suffolk- not too sure there would be room to house a flock in greenwich…)
I'd love to hear from anyone else! x

Re: Hello and Introductions

Hey everyone!
Im from Somerset/ Bristol/ Bath (I tend to move between the 3, although Somerset is where my head is currently)

I started spinning on drop spindles whilst at University in Bristol about 3yrs ago, and have recently picked it back up with new enthusiasm.

Hoping to eventually spend some savings on a carder and spinning wheel for a faster spinning rate and fancier art yarns, but until then my spindle is my best friend.

Nice to cyber-meet you all!

Re: Hello and Introductions

Hiya girls!

I live in Kent, I was born in London (East End) but left London 14 years ago.
I am new to Etsy and Louise's shop SpinCityUK is the first shop that I shopped in, actually Louise's shop is the only shop I have shopped in on Etsy.
I am new to spinning, and bought my first drop spindle kit from Louise back in April this year. This month I treated myself to another drop spindle kit and a beautiful custom drop spindle kit, and I LOVE my new pretty spindle. I have to confess I am addicted to spinning, I love it so much!

Nice to meet everyone!

Re: Hello and Introductions

Hi, my name is Roz and I'm from the East Midlands. I started crafting a couple of years ago but discovered needle felting earlier this year and fell in love with it and now concentrate on my felted items. I have recently started wet felting too and find that equally addictive! I love the versatility of wool and would love to start spinning but fear another addiction would take over my life!

Re: Hello and Introductions

Hi everyone, I live in the far NW of Scotland, in Kinlochbervie, Sutherland. Just opened my Etsy shop last month. My main interest is in making wet felted pictures using mostly merino wool, though I also make brooches out of wool felt, and I love working with printed cottons to make patchwork cushions. this last month I've been getting everything photographed and working out shipping costs etc to get it listed on Etsy. That's done now though so now I want to spend time producing some new pictures (seascapes, landscapes and floral) inspired by the local scenery. I thought it would be good also to join some teams to share and learn from each other's experiences.

Re: Hello and Introductions

Hi, I'm Katie and I hand dye British yarn and fibre with natural dyes. I knit and spin too, I'm trying to work my way through spinning as many British breeds as I can try. I'm then knitting, slowly, the resulting yarn into a cabled blanket.

I've just restocked my supplies of undyed BFL, Shetland, Wensleydale and Masham rady to dye up for http://yarndale.co.uk/ at the end of September.

Hi all! I'm living in Tillicoultry, Central Scotland, and I'm new to Etsy, teams and actually to spinning too, though it has become a bit of an obsession.
I mainly knit and crochet, and the shop as that kind of items.

Hi! I've just joined the team - spinner, felter and weaver here - I dye longwools (and roving) too, and make batts. I'm based in Edinburgh, so if there's anyone in this group near me, or passing through, please give me a shout. I'd love to meet you!

Re: Hello and Introductions

Hello! I'm Aleks - dividing my time between London and Barcelona. I spin, knit, crochet, and dabble a little bit in weaving. Basically, as long as I can get my hands on some fluff, I'm happy! Newbie to selling on Etsy - I'm enjoying hand-dying fibre and various fibre prep like rolags, hand-dizzed roving etc. :)

Hello. I am Kim, a Scottish felter, from Perthshire. I love felting things to wear and am never happier than when I'm up to my elbows in wonderful wooliness! I also knit and work with Harris Tweed.

Re: Hello and Introductions

Hi -Sharon here. I've just found this group and am delighted to find so many fibre addicts in one place!!
I've been selling knitted items on Etsy for a while, but have taken up spinning and now carding and am totally addicted!!.
I have an Ashford eSpinner -I have issues with my feet which means treadling a traditional wheel is a no no for me. I recently bought my own carder, so am now selling both hand spun yarn and carded batts in my Etsy shop :)

Re: Hello and Introductions

It's like coming home! I read my thoughts and feelings in every post, right down to driving my husband crazy nattering at him about how wonderful wool is! He bought me a shed to get me and all my fiber out the house so he could get to the kitchen for mealtimes! It is wonderful to read what you all are doing and it is so great to know there are so many people like me out there.

I am Sharon, a Canadian living in South Wales and loving every second of it. England, Wales and Europe are so beautiful! Don't get me wrong! Canada and the United States are incredibly beautiful as well. But I lived and traveled there for over 40 years. Now I am doing it over here in the UK plus I learned to spin and dye here and will hopefully be successful at it as I am disabled and can no longer work outside of home.

Good luck everyone! It is great reading about you all!
All the best, Sharon

Re: Hello and Introductions

Hey all, I just opened my shop selling handspun, eek. I have been spinning (obsessively) since I started in January.
I spin either pre-dyed tops, which I blend on my trusty drum carder or I also have a stock of wool I have sourced locally, washed and carded myself from scratch... I have 6 heb x zwartble lamb fleeces queued up for washing... but its just getting to cold these days here on Skye as I wash them in cold rainwater!

Anyway I ramble, Hello again!
