Hello and Introductions

Hello, I thought I might start this group to see if there are any other spinners living in London so we could all have a good chat and discuss ways to promote ourselves.
I've been spinning for around 4 years and I am completely hooked! I flit between London ( Greenwich ) and Suffolk spinning up yarns on my Ashford Joy and using fibres from my next door neighbour's pet flock (in suffolk- not too sure there would be room to house a flock in greenwich…)
I'd love to hear from anyone else! x

Re: Hello and Introductions

Hi,

I'm Faith, and I live in South Wales, just north of Cardiff - I'll be relocating to to the Yorkshire area soon.

I love all things textile related and have been spinning for a little over a year - but am addicted! I too have an Ashford Joy and will often take him down the pub for stitch and bitch :D

One day would love to have a small holding, with rare breeds to spin from - maybe an angora bunny or too....

Hi everyone :)
I'm Juli, I live in Lincoln where I'm an acupuncturist by day and a wool fiend... the rest of the time! I've been spinning on and off for about a year and I usually turn my handspun into a combination of crochet and felt <3

Re: Hello and Introductions

Hi, just joined Etsy and glad to find fellow wool loving Brits here.

I felt British wool, bluefaced lecester and wensleydale mostly. I print onto my felt and make them into book covers, lampshades, eyemasks, Christmas angels etc. My many creations will gradually be added to my shop.

I live in Todmorden, a border town where Lancashire and West Yorkshire meet.

Please have a look at my shop and offer any advice you can.

Re: Hello and Introductions

Hi Everyone,

I'm Yvonne. I live in Warrington and have been on Etsy selling one thing or another since 2009. Having previously made soap I got really fed up with all the legal stuff and so searched for another craft.

I used to spin when I was little and have my mother's spinning wheel so I took a refresher course in Manchester only to realise the lady taught felting too. I've been hooked on felting for over a year now and love it. I've also started dying yarn and have been learning to crochet with it.

Look forward to chatting

Re: Hello and Introductions

Hi, I'm Tanya and I'm from Romsey in Hampshire.

I've been spinning for three years and am totally besotted! I've knitted and crocheted since I was a child, but spinning your own wool opens up so many new doors for creativity I think :) Besides, I'm now totally hooked on fiber. It's just way more delicious to have in the stash than any other material.

I owned an Ashford Traditional for years until just recently when I splurged on an Ashford Joy ... and well, it's joyful! I love it.

I also love to spin with my ever-growing collection of spindles.

That leads me on to why I opened an Etsy shop. I've recently opened my shop to sell my handmade spindles, handspun yarn and other knitting/crochet tools and accessories.

I had been making my own spindles and posting the pics on my favourite app 'Instagram' and other people were commenting on them saying how much they liked them. I then got two sales off the back of that, and so thought I'd open an Etsy shop too.

So I'm busy busy busy making spindles at the moment and will be uploading more for sale very soon.

Anyway, I'm rambling. Just really excited to find like-minded people online.

Looking forward to growing and learning from you all.

Thanks for reading :)

Re: Hello and Introductions

Hi Everyone,
I am from Sligo in the North West of Ireland. I have been spinning on and off for nearly 30 years and now have a little more time to enjoy it. I love spinning and dying and I own a flock of Wensleydales. I use their wool and some of my neighbours to do lots of wooly things with. Really love to chat to all you fiber fanatics and get ideas

Re: Hello and Introductions

Hi everybody.
My name is Linda I live in Nottinghamshire and although I ve nothing knitty or spinny in my shop I just love spinning on drop spindles. I m hoping to pick up tips and ideas for beautiful yarn.
I ve tried using a wheel and welllllll hmmmmmm failed to bond, producing an interesting mix of thickness and textures on a day course, but it was great fun. I would try it again.
Looking forward to chatting and sharing thoughts

Re: Hello and Introductions

Hi guys,

I've been spinning for a couple of years now after I inherited my Mum's old spinning wheel (she got an upgrade.) I am originally from the Cardiff area but recently moved to Newbury and the break between jobs has got me spinning again. Needless to say I'm totally hooked! Just opened my first Etsy shop which I'm stupidly excited about. Pop on over and check it out if you have a few seconds, some feedback would be awesome as I'm kind of new to this.

Nice to meet you all !

Bex

I'm new to the team and pretty new to Etsy, just opened my shop to sell my little felted creatures before they take over the whole house. Thought I'd drop a message to say hi. I'm a mostly a needle felter but dabble in wet felting too, and would love to learn to spin one day.

I loiter over on Pinterest too as Mischief_leaf, if any of you guys are pinners to i'd love to find more crafty types to follow :)
