Welcome!

Hello and Welcome to Type Life,

This is a team to talk about and promote typewriters but lets start by introducing ourselves.

My name is Zac and I'm 25. I first became interested in typewriters as a way to write without the distractions of the internet however the love of these wonderful machines quickly overtook my writing and soon I found myself buying far to many machines to keep for myself. I decided the best thing I could do was teach myself how to fix them up and sell them to others who would appreciate them as much as I do.

Re: Welcome!

Salutations all!

I'm Anna, and I restore, collect and use typewriters. I photograph them, blog about them, practically eat, breathe and sleep them at this point. And do I know you from another typer community, Zachary? That shop name is quite familiar!

Another Etsyer and I are trying to save and reclaim typers from keychoppers. So far, it's slow going, though I have had some local successes.

Pleasure to meet you all!

Re: Welcome!

Anna, you very well may. I keep a blog, www.assholewithatypewriter.blogspot.com and sell at local events around the Boston area. Welcome to the team! What is your blog? I would love to check it out!

Re: Welcome!

Thank you! I thought I recognized you from the Typosphere, haha. My blog is here: http://amachinefortheendoftheworld.blogspot.com/ I'm practically on the other side of the country from you, however.

Also started an anti-keychopping group here with another T-spherian if you're interested: https://www.etsy.com/teams/13974/the-typewriter-conservatory?ref=pr_teams

PS-Please pardon most recent, emo post on the blog. Was mostly insomnia-induced natterings. I'll have an actual typewriter related one up in a few hours, as I'm falling behind! They're arriving faster than I can post about them, it seems.

Re: Welcome!

Thank you very much! To both compliments! Hahaha.

The kit is still a work in progress; I need to re-photograph, because I have added things to it! Not much, but enough to make the difference between hipster and practical use. It's funny how three pieces can make all the difference in the world!

I really need to update my blog. I've been feeling under the weather lately and haven't done it. Tomorrow, hopefully!

TYPOSPHERIANS UNITE! OORAH! XD

Re: Welcome!

For my own group, I've actually just convoed other Etsians to see if they were interested in joining, or asked friends from the Typosphere. Sometimes it works, sometimes it doesn't. I guess it depends on the individual.

Re: Welcome!

Hi. I love the rustic nostalgia of a typewriter. I have my mother's old one from when she was in college, as an inspiration. I haven't actually tried to make it work, but just imagining myself in an era when that was -the- machine is enough to get my creative juices flowing. I'm a collector of unique, OOAK, and eclectic pieces, be they antiques or costume or housewares.
