Happy September Trelanders! Our original Chit Chat thread started by BeccasBeauties has gradually been burried :( , but I've decided to make a new one that will be re-posted each month so it will stay at the top and not get too terribly long.
Keep up with members, ask questions and share your ideas on how to better promote our team and your shops on Etsy. We can learn a lot from each other and make some good friends along the way!

Ok, I would like to say that I have been a terrible slacker this summer. I have not put much time into Etsy but I'm ready to buckle down and get back to work.
In the previous chat thread, Becca had tried adding selected shops to her circle that could possibly be interested in jewelry and after a lot of adding, it seemed to be working for her by creating a few sales! Yeah Becca!

I've never been really into the circles, but I may give it a try. Thanks for posting about your experiment Becca, and Happy Tuesday everyone!

Hi Jill.......GREAT to see you. I was starting to worry :)

I've been actively growing my circle and I think of it as another form of networking. Kind of like, they tell two friends and they tell two friends and so on and so on.

I've been busily working on adding both more vintage and illustrations to Bates Mercantile Co. AND working on our blog Mercantile Muse. I've been very dedicated to posting every day. I've only missed a couple. If nothing else, it's been a good daily exercise for me and another way to meet new people. It really is a whole new world and I still have lots to learn, but that's ok.

Still working on improving our pictures. Making baby steps. All of it is a good learning process.

Glad to see you and thanks for starting the thread again.

I'd like to know what everyone else is doing for marketing. I have to say our shop was dead in august, then bang.......a few sales this week as soon as the calendar changed to sept. go figure.

I still have to go through all my listings to tweak for the new 'relevancy' search results from etsy.

Just visited your blog Pam - it looks great! I would really like to find a better template than the standard one I have now but that job is at the bottom of my "to do" list for now. I really need to get some new items in my shop. Right now I'm working on a few dog lover decals that should hopefully be in the shop by the weekend. (fingers crossed) There just aren't enough hours in the day!

Hopefully this thread will catch on soon.... it's a nice break to come in and catch up with everyone. I've missed my forum time this summer so I'm glad to be back and it's also nice to know I was missed a little as well. :)

I was just visiting Pam's blog too, and it does look great. I liked the rain gear, since its hotter than blazes, and dogs in raincoats always make me chuckle too :) Nice blog, Pam .. I'll check in again and see what you're up to.

Speaking of dogs.. I think dog lover decals are a great idea Jill. People love showing off their pets! Maybe even cat decals too ~ ooo and donuts, lol...

Circles do seem to create some interest. I have seen some of my fave items and shops show up on some faves in my circle, and I fave some of theirs too. It's an interesting way to see new things and find new shops. Especially with those that you know have similar tastes. Making new connections and so forth can't be a bad thing, right? Does anyone post treasuries or items on Facebook or Twitter? I've not gotten into either, yet...

Well it's good to have my shop open again after being away for almost a year, and I'm really glad I found the Treasury Island team... such a happy and supportive group! - Thanks all ... keep rolling with the tide :)

Hello K, glad you found us! Circles are growing on me it seams, and I've only been circling seriously for a day or two!
I try to post my treasuries to FB as much as possible when I have time.
Oh, and I just checked your shop... those donuts look good enough to eat! Great mold making- makes me think of those yummy little wedding favor mints. Mmm Donuts & Mints- it's a good thing they are only photos!

Thanks Jill :) I did make some food grade molds for wedding favors last year - little chocolate pierogis... they were pretty cute I have to say. Mints are a great idea too, and I've thought of cake toppers and flowers... I should probably add a food safe line of molds...light bulb goes on ~ thanks for the inspiration!

K, love the idea of the pet decals!!! Jill, what about something to go over the dog bowl on the wall........??? My dog makes a mess with his water..........maybe a take on that.

Dog bowl decal- great idea Pam, thanks! I just listed my first one, intended for maybe a vet's office. Will be working on a couple more over the next few days.

K- I agree, food safe molds. What about cupcake or brownie molds for kids birthday parties?

Ok, I got the dog dish decal in the shop. I'm thinking of adding scrapbook decals, but I have to work out the details for them first. Sales have been slow all summer, but I am probably to blame for part of that. Hopefully I can get a lot of new items in my shop before the Christmas buyers start looking!

Also, I'm getting into this circle thing. Pam, have you shown an increase in your sales due to your networking and circle usage?
