LIght Box

Hey everyone, I just wanted to add a tip for better photography for all. I have been trying to really improve a lot of my photos, getting an SLR camera can be really expensive on a limited budget, so I have been doing my research to get as much out of my photos as possible.

This first thing I have discovered is the use of a light box. For those of you that don't know about this instrument it is so easy to make and really can change your photos to look really professional.
I simply took an old bankers box, cut three holes on the sides and lined two of them with tracing paper (even paper towels will do), and placed a piece of white paper curving down as a backdrop. By placing a light at the top (I use my art desk light) you can control the intensity of the shot.

This is an easy and great way to help with your photos especially for us that have jewelry in our shops. If anyone wants more info on this please let me know and I can send you pictures and more precise directions.

Much Love

Alexander Lisman

Re: LIght Box

Thanks for that Alexander, also you could try using 'bounce flash' without having to buy an expensive new camera. All you need is another flashgun with a tilt and swivel head, and it doesn't need to be super powerful or expensive.

I take all my pics this way on my desktop with a white wall behind and white ceiling, and simply point the flash at the ceiling. You do have to set your camera to manual settings and experiment a little to get the exposure right, but I think the results are worth it once you have it cracked.
